Pix, you got that Bruce Willis vibe going on... When did you turn 40?

As for girl-o... I'd tell her the same thing we all told that EE a week or so ago: If you're intelligent enough to get an engineering degree, do it and don't look back. Fuck IT. It's a dead-end career.

Thanks! I'll take a Bruce Willis reference any day of the week and twice on Sundays! I'll be turning 43 in May this year. Scary number

I would never post compromising photos. But I can post PG rated photos. She has brown hair now and no nose ring, but we didn't take many photos over the winter. You can trust me on the boobs. Now give me some advice on schooling and the IT field as it stands and will stand in the future :)

I call shens!

There's only one big boob in each of those pics, and it's got hair under its ugly, nose-like nipple.

You're 43 and she's ... 20?

Nice.

lol

She's 27, will be 28 in August. And she looks young for her age. So we are 15 years apart. But it works. She is wise beyond her years...

On my online dating profiles I had an age range of 32-42 that I was searching for, but I didn't meet my fiancee online, we met in a wacky way IRL. It's an intense and personal story.

Quality post, Perknose! If there was only a way that we could reward people for a cool post like that, maybe with some some sort of reward token system. Anyway, just a thought ;)

Considering how ditzy she looks, no chance as far as moving up in life. Just not nerdy enough. Make her get more fat and unattractive

Also lose the loser trying to wear a suit..

It's getting tougher for women to get hired as corporate lawyers are advising their clients that the best way to avoid harassment and other problems related to female employees is to not hire a woman when there is a man with an equal or better skillset.
It's just one of the repercussions of the 'me too' syndrome that is going on today.
The nose ring may become another stumbling block for her as well.

Not sure what someone is talking about, the women I run into in corporate America IT are old AF or young and ditzy. Get a degree on paper, know the right person...basically how it works....applies to both genders.

Seems like not too long ago you were doing the online dating thing? Seems to have worked and you look happy, and I am happy for you.

Computers, and IT are generally a male dominated field as we all know. When even a decent looking woman enters that, she's going to get hit on a lot. She will be around mostly men. Good luck and I hope things work out for you.

My sister was working at Boston University as a lab tech for about 8 years. Due to funding issues she was let go. She's pretty smart. Went to Rutgers, got a degree in biology. Started working for a Harvard professor who then got her into Harvard She took night classes and obtained her masters. Put out a few clinical papers with the Harvard professor.

When she was let go she weighed her choices and took night classes in programming. She's a gamer and loves most things technology based. She fell in love with programming and went out in search of work. She went to meet ups in Boston and applied to a cloud based startup. She was hired as a temp. She got good money, but it was supposed to be temporary Long story short, she worked her ass off. Took all the criticism and applied it to her craft. ZERO drama. She did her work well, and in the end she was offered a full time position making a little over $100k a year. She gets to work at home, and they fly her to California on work related trips. She could literally work anywhere. Her wife, who was working as a librarian at Boston U, quit get job and started doing social media for small and large businesses. She now has a thriving home based business. She does extremely well. She can also speak 4 languages. Super smart lady.

We over think EVERYTHING This is what stops most of us in our tracks. My sister is a gay female in a field that is dominated by young white males. She's in her mid 30s. She doesn't fit the norm. But, she's an excellent worker who does an excellent job. But, if she were to come to a forum like this and ask for advice I'm almost positive most people here would tell her to find another line of work.

I'm just saying. Just do it. If she fails, so what. She'll know why she failed and come back stronger because she now has info that she didn't have in the beginning of her journey.

You raise a good point, Mai, I don't see where the OP has defined her intended field. IT is a broad term, and in my experience is more hardware and networking related.

So maybe the OP should define it more narrowly, and read your post.

True. He needs to be more specific.

Anyway, I posted my story to offer some kind of motivation and hopefully OP sees some value in it. I still stand by the fact that we over think everything. It's good to analyze opportunities and to try to do the right thing. But, its not going to happen until you take action. IMO, that's the scary part of it. I over analyze too much as well. I need to follow my own advice.

Geez... this post is still around? I figured that the mods would have locked it by now for not delivering on the great boobs that the title promised!

Her schooling is focused on Database management which I mentioned in the OP. She is thinking of staying a bit longer to take some courses in System security but that's up in the air.
