My fellow Americans, it is spelled "color" not "colour".

You are correct on the its, missed my typos in the spelling of English and possessions, and I am pretty sure the poster I was quoting actually meant Anglophile (a person who greatly admires or favors England and things English) and not Anglophone (consisting of or belonging to an English-speaking population especially in a country where two or more languages are spoken).

You're right, I missed the context.

Yes, we all love our fellow citizens from around the world, but we do not need to emulate them when it comes to the spelling of certain words.

It is spelt:
color, not colour
flavor, not flavour
behavior, not behaviour

And while Im at it, its:

$500 not 500$

It is important to preserve the American way of doing things for future generations. Thanks for your careful consideration. :)

Spelt (Triticum spelta) is a hexaploid species of wheat.

Pfft... in 30 years - the official language will be spanich. White engrish will be the minority.

Always "fun" to travel abroad - some countries like year, day, month while others like year, month, day - makes it a bitch when filling out immigration cards on the plane at 2am in the morning [home time].

Yup, most of the rest of the English speakers in the world remained subjects of the crown for far too long. And are still disarmed. All who want to be free individuals still find their way here...

It's:
it's, not its

Depends on the usage.
WITH the apostrophe: it's is a contraction of "it is", as in "It's too late to fix that!"

WITHOUT the apostrophe: its is the possessive pronoun, as in "The dog buried its bone."

You do NOT use the apostrophe all the time.

"American's" technically means anyone in North or South America, including Canada, Mexico, Columbia, Chile, Belize.... It's not 'America' its the 'United States' OF America.

IF you wanna get technical :p

Besides, who's to say color is more 'correct' than colour?
