so i got my father iphone 4s and about a month later he calls me over to "do what i did before to make it work". so im trying to turn it on and off and i notice there was steam in the camera. i asked him about it and he says he spilled a little water on it. i took it to the apple store and they said they dont fix water damaged phones and i could make an appointment at the genius bar and they might give me a discount on one. i didnt have time to wait so i didnt do that. anyway, is the phone permanently bricked? are there companies other than apple that can do repairs or should i just wait a month and get iphone 5 for him

Put it in a bag filled with dry rice overnight and try again later

My co-worker did the same thing to her galaxy nexus phone. Put in rice for 2 days and now it works just fine. the water stickers are red tho but it is working. The iphone is sealed pretty good so maybe removing the back and then put in rice?

Ummm. Removing the back=unscrewing tiny screws+void warranty.

You do know that I phones don't come with back doors like a gnex

if the water's been in there for a while the rice probably won't help. still worth a shot though.

Try the rice trick (Turned off, put in ziplock bag half full with plain, uncooked white rice for a few days.)

If that does not work, then sell it on eBay for parts and get him a new iPhone 5 on September 12th.
