I just wanted to know what fan you use..

I use 7800 RPM delta fan with vantec CCK6035D

Also, someone tell me if "80 to 60" fan adapter is good..

I'm using the fan that came with my GC68. I've got a 33ohm resistor on the 12v lead. Nice and quiet and puts out a ton of air still.

I've got the blowdryer Delta 38 on my heat sink right now... last night I downloaded a realtime SPL program to measure the sounds of happiness coming out of my machine and it came to a sparkling 45 dB measured from where I sit, five feet away from the machine. It's making me a little nutty, so I'm probably going to go for either a Y.S. Tech or a Thermalright CPU fan in the next few days.

:)Why not use the Y.S. Tech fan 80 x 80 x 25 mm. 3 pin c/w rpm sensor with speed control dial , 800 - 3700 rpm , 10.2 - 48.7 cfm , 18 - 39.5 dba , 2 ball bearing , 75000 hr life expectancy, this gives you all the options with the speed dial , plus the qaulity is great.

Yes the P4 stock fan and heatsink are quite enuf for everything.
I am using them now to overclock 1.6A to 2.4Ghz

And the stock fan is really quiet...nothing like the power beasts that I used to run for the hot athlons.

hi TELeast,

what temps are you seeing with the 1.6 at 2.4 with retail HSF?

I am getting 40C idle and 53C max load.

I have voltage at 1.6

AS3 on cpu

thanks

Another vote for P4 Northwood and stock fan.

I'm running a 1.8A at 2.3Ghz with stock cooling. No problems and super-quiet.

Just built a box for a friend yesterday and used the 1.6A/stock HSF combo.

When I had my 1.4 TBird I used the 8045/L1A combo. Quiet for an Athlon, but still quiet a bit louder than a Northwood.

A retail P4 fan is quieter than a 21dBA L1A??? What heatsink/fan do these things come with? I'd like to check into this...

Change my entry. Soon as my order from SVC gets here, I'll be running all Panaflo L1A's. :D

If you added the 80 to 60 fan adapter and put a good 80mm fan on it would put out probably as much air and not be as fast so that the noise would be alot lower.

The P4's with the stock hsf are really quiet cause the fan isn't very powerful since they don't make as much heat as the Athlon XP's do, plus the overclocks of the P4s are really fantastic too.

It depends on what you want to do, upgrade your hsf or buy a new system.. hmmm..

I didn't buy the 80 to 60 fan adapter, but I bought 5500 RPM 60x60x25 mm fan...
Very nice and quiet...

How big is P4 stock fan? bigger than 60x60x25 mm fan?
It's quiet because it is bigger and slower?
