I live a good life without making much mostly because I don't live in a pricey area. I live in an older yet still very typical middle class neighborhood. But I make more than what most people in my area make aside from Doctors, lawyers..etc.
What many people do in OP's case is they drive a lot farther to work and live in cheaper, nearby towns. I know some that drive 2 hours every day.

Oh my god 1%ers

I am no where near 1% I probably barely squeak into the top 20% (in 2012 it took $104k or more, and $191k to get in the top 5%)

In reality I am pretty close to just earning what is considered the 'living wage' in my area when my baby is born in February (single income, 5 dependents).

To lol at you

I hope it doesn't

Not even remotely

How would posting what my average bills are per month cause me any harm?

Is Flo from Progressive going to see my auto insurance and have SWAT raid me for paying too much? Will she bring the AFLAC duck with her? I like that guy.

This is far from the truth in upstate NY. People are moving to the suburbs and rural areas. Rural areas are becoming more built up. People are leaving the crime and decrepitness of the cities.

Ok, but that's the northeast, not midwest. :colbert:

Considering the size of your fan club, one might think that you'd be more concerned about someone finding out who you really are and mailing you dead rats, or something.

People have already mailed me from here and my ex wife over the years to let her know about my girlfriends.

I don't have anything to hide. As a long time trader here my address is not a secret.

You keep making these thinly veiled threats though, Mr. Anon.

JFC, story of your life. All you do is project and imply, all day every day. Do you really believe your shit? You're the center of nobody's universe but your own. I don't care about you at all. Honestly, I couldn't be bothered to mail you a shit even if I had one to give.

I don't know WTF you are thinking or where you are going with this.

I do not make up anything here and I have been nothing, but open about my life and experiences.

Obviously, despite your beliefs; you must really care in some way because you continually go out of your way to tell me "you don't care".

It's clear you are both angry and perhaps jealous or even worse somehow deeply affected / mentally broken over this.

You may want to take some time away and de-stress yourself or whatever you need to do.

We make more than twice as much, by no means well off in the Bay Area.

Many of the posters talk about how expensive Socal is when the Bay Area is significantly more expensive. then again Bay Area is a much better place to live than Socal.

I am in a similar boat. I save more than 50% of my net income.

nice. i dont think i will be able to do it forever, but figure doing it while young has a bigger expected payout than doing it when i'm older.

of course, there is the chance i may kick myself when i'm older, but ah well.

I suggest you read the 1996 book, The Millionaire Next Door. Even a doctor making 700,000 USD a year back in the mid 1990s, was having money troubles.

And yeah, I'd GTFO, from California.

My wife used to work for a Doctor that pulled down $40k a month. He would get rejected by the bank for simple car loans because he was so over-leveraged. He was one of the dumbest people I ever knew when it came to money.

My time up here is short, but overall I'd disagree wholeheartedly

I'm doing my first furnace install in months. The drought is over I hope.

They just put in two new 30 ton AC units here. The project is not quite done yet, will be interesting to see when they power on those beasts.

Of course even in the -50s this building will overheat without AC. Pulling about 90kw on the 48vdc side alone. :awe:
