My Experiences with the Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum...

One word pretty much sums it all up: WOW

Just when I thought I was enjoying my 5.1 Platinum to it's fullest, along comes the Audigy. The audio quality that comes from my speakers is simply outstanding. The bass is incredible, the treble is crisp to a T, and the quality is nothing but the best. No crackles, no pops, no software glitches...yet. 😉

To let you know, I have this card hooked up to my Cambridge SoundWorks DTT3500 speakers using the Digital DIN connection. It is on my P4 rig so if you want, you can check the specs in my signature.

I personally give this card two thumbs up, as it is well worth the price.

My $0.02

EDIT: Dang, I always forget something to add. The sound quality from the Audigy is MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH better than from my 5.1 Platinum when you compare the two.

As soon as Creative releases winxp drivers for the Audigy ..im jumping on it 😉

good to hear you like it ..so far I'm reading nothing but good things about this card.

Well, the 5.1 Platinum is going to go back into my P4 and the Audigy Platinum is going in my new dual AMD setup.

Yup, every game I play and every MP3 that is played is SOOOOOO much clearer. I don't know how else to explain it but to listen to it for yourself. I can hear things in songs I couldn't hear before.

Of course it is, you had a Live... 😉 I noticed the same thing going from my Live to the GTXP.

I don't belive you, as almost all respected hw sites have said that yes it's better but it's not earth shattering.

Sorry to hear that, Haribo. These are my experiences and you don't have to believe me if you don't want to.

This card is hella better than the Live and that's that. 😀

<< The improved sound quality is certainly not as significant as the specs may make some believe but my early impression is that the benefit compared to the Live is noticeable on $300 speakers or sub $100 headphones. In time for the full review we should be able to offer more detailed impressions as well as objective numbers including how it compares to the CS4630 based cards (e.g. Santa Cruz and GameTheater XP). Moving on to the other features I will give a short description of each and my early impressions of it. >>

From http://www.3dsoundsurge.com/ THE site for sound related stuff!

So yes it sounds better but for most people the difference shouldn't be that big, most people don't have $300 speakers 😀

Now agree with me or I'll kick yo ass 😉

Do you know why you have to agree with me?

Cause otherwise I'll have to go out and get me one of those stoopid Audigy cards 😀

i wonder how it sounds compared to a mx300 or santa cruz. everyone knows that the live isn't exactly known for sound quality.

<< Actually, I find the difference in sound quality quite noticeable. >>

Then I guess I'll notice a difference from my SB Live! Value.
