Good luck installing Quake 3 on the computers used in C++ in my school - their Pentium 100's...

My hs wasn't that advanced to have c++, but I haven't seen a p100 here at all at college. Most of the computers to do code on are suns, some sgi.

Suspended for Quake!!! I know someone who HACKED the school server (stole passwords and made himself an admin), installed whatever he wanted on one of the school computers. "Whatever he wanted" includes his MP3 collection, any game he wanted to play, and his own copy of Windows 2000. He did not get in anywhere near as much trouble.

I'm not surprised- either at the students or the Administrations actions

If I hadn't taken some measures, they would be having lots of the same sort of problems with the systems I sold our local school- the only person who can install ANY new software is the administrator (and yours truly)

They don't understand why I set it up that way- till I explained that some of the virus problems they had had were the result of students installing "cool" software they had got in a e-mail, etc. Being as how I'm the Tech support (for those 25 anyway) I personally take a dim view of some of the stuff the kids would put on, if given a chance. I'm also the de facto administrator- the "real" admin has no clue (she absolutely insisted that I get rid of the Administrator account in Windows 2000, wishes the network was on 98 or ME, doesn't know any of the IP addresses or physical location of the servers, etc.

In a way it's a shame- they would be good Quake machines- P4's 1.4, 256 mb Rdram, 60 gb HD's, 64 mb GF2Ultra's, Soundblaster Lives- near top of the line in July when I built them..

I would of thought that they were suspending for copying each other's programs...not installing quake 3...lol
