Hi everyone I am dealing with an issue right now and am getting kind of worried about it- I bought a bunch of parts recently and got the store i bought them from to build the system, and the Power supply I bought blew and took the motherboard with it- Now im left here worrying about any other parts being fried, obv- if anything else fried they said theyd replace it right away
But Im more over worried about all the major components Life span being shortened or the chance of of things failing once i get it and then weeks go by and or month and things will fail because of the PSU.

The PSU I had was enermax galaxy 1000- i got it replaced right away- I never heard of any issues with this PSU really- it made a loud pop and died.

Anyways Please let me know your guys' thoughts

well I do not buy enermax anymore.. I have had problems with thier products.. on several occasions..

also.. I do not understand to this day why the overclock so high on cpu's and strain on motherboards all of the enthusiasts go for.. never will.. you wear out your parts faster.. you null and void your warranty.. and with such expensive parts as yours.. I just do not get it.. never will.. you get a performance increase but it isnt so significant that it makes things sooo much better.. omg I have a better 3dmark score.. pft.. and I am lower on my 3d mark or any other benchmark but my machine lives a year longer then the enthusiasts that overclock thiers.. sure people use watercooling.. huge heatsinks and giant fans.. does that mean your motherboard isnt stressed to the hilt? no...

and yes odds are your rig will be short lived.. things will get weird.. some things will die much more early then you expected.. not only because you have such a high overclock.. but because your psu acted a fool..

motherboard will go first..

Well you can worry about everything. Even the best parts don't always work out. Yes you'll have a much better chance of having a good rig, but every manufacturer has faulty parts. You just have to remember that with a quality part you'll usually have a quality warranty to go with it.
Now since your doing some pretty excessive OC's, your going to stress out alot of your parts and could possibly have them fail quite quickly. If your temperatures are pretty stable and fairly low, this might not affect the parts too much. I just think that OC'ing to the extreme will definately shorten the life span and or possibly create undue stress on your parts.

Well enermax is a top notch company and they're all that I use in my systems. Everybody lets a bad one out the door every now and then. Hopefully they took care of you right away. With that said depending on what happened when it let go determines the effect on the attached components.

No way to tell for sure, but that's a quality PS, and part of the quality is being able to fail and not take anything else with it.

Hi there to all- I shouldve stated taht the Hardware on my sig is not my system anymore- I have a QX9650 and 2 8800 ultras . Everything was at stock when this happened, I was installing Windows and the pop happened. Also note I am doing a watercooling system. But nothing is overclocked was just booting up for the 3rd time pretty much.

Also note I am not building this system. Its being built for me- im just calling because my other components were in there and im just wondering as I know they will be stressing it out alot- and testing everything, just want to make sure as far as I know- if a part turns on- usually it means its ok- Im not carign about OC'ing or anything cuz nothign was OC'd at the time- in fact none of these parts were oc'd when i was installing Windows. It was a brand new fresh install. But If somethings going to fail or fried it wouldnt turn on or work from the start- is what I understand at least. correct?

Thanks for the comments-
Yah With my experience ive nver had a power supply blow but it seems if the PSU is going to damage anything else it will do it right away and not a gradual process, which is the case with most electronics i guess.

The tech at the store told me the motherboard was probably fine but didnt want to waste time recovering it and just replaced it anyways- I bought alot of new parts for the new system incl the motherboard, new CPU, and new GPU's. The last two parts is what i am most concerned about- and he said he'll test it very throughly and will know if something is about to fail or is an unstable part that isnt anything but in Brand new condition.

I also have a 1 year warranty on all parts and labour so i have some good peace of mind. Just kind of scary when things turn this way but it seems it happens to alot- Cheers.
