My ebay horror story

Out of the 3 years I have been using ebay, this is my only bad story I have to tell.

On April 4, 2003 I bought the DVD Fight Club (the 2-disc version) for $27.99 shipped. I paid via paypal that same day.

Here is a dialogue of the e-mails sent/received

Apr 8: (Me) Hey still no DVD, what's going on with it?

Apr 11: (Seller) It went out about 3 days ago. Sorry it took so long to ship. I was working long hours. Thanks for your business.

Apr 15: (Me) still no dvd, if it doesn't come by wednesday I want my money back. This is entirely too long for an in-state package

Apr 15: (Seller) I am very sorry, I have no idea what could be taking so long. I have the reciept for the shipment and I will call and find out what the probalam is.

Apr 18: (Me) As of today I have not received the package. Please refund my money ASAP. If you have never done a refund through paypal, just click on the transaction and there should be a link that says Refund. You have up to 30 days from the time I sent the money to refund it. Please do so, ASAP. Thank you

Apr 20: (Me) Please refund my paypal. If I do not get a refund by the end of Monday I will leave a negative feedback and file a complaint with paypal.

Apr 21: (Me) If you do not respond and refund my money via paypal, I will be forced to leave you negative feedback and contact ebay/paypal to get my money back. This is your last warning!

Apr 21: (Seller) Exscuse me for not responding sooner. I do have a fulltime job and have been working alot of overtime. I have the reciept and the comfirmation number for the item you bought, and it is in route to you. You did not pay for overnight or 2day mail. I am sorry if you it wasnt there when you wanted it. It is on the way and I have proof. I am sorry that there is no more that I can do. If you leave negative feedback, I will be forced to do the same as well, seeing as how I have held up my end of the bargain. I cannot control the time that the mail takes. As far as your refund goes. If you are unhappy with the item once you have it for some reason, and it is returned in the same condition it was sent, I will be happy to refund your money. But, I cannot refund your money until I recieve the item back. If you like, I will call the UPS store and have them call to comfirm that your item is on the way. I am sorry that it has taken so long, but like I said before, you did not pay for fast shipping.

And about your job, so what. I go to WSU, have a job, a wife, and a kid. I have a busy life and still have time to take care of my business. Any negative feedback you may leave will be disputed by me, I paid you the same frickin day that the auction ended.

Apr 22: (Me) So when exactly is "first thing tomorrow" or "in the morning"? Because it is 3:00 and you still have not sent me a tracking number. Very shady.

Apr 22: (Seller) You are a very pathetic and arrogant man. I do not wish to speak with you again. The item went out UPS parcel post from Mail Boxes Ect. and the parcel shipping order is #****** (Not even a tracking number) . This is the exact shipping that you paid for and if you are not happy, ask how long the shipping will take next time. That is not something I can personally rush when you do not pay for it to be rushed. Please do not email me again with your rude comments or I will file a complaint with ebay for harrassment.

I finally left the seller negative feedback and filed a claim with "SquareTrade" a free mediating service. What do you guys think?

The way the person said UPS parcel post makes me think they sent it out USPS parcel post. I'm almost positive it's either lost or they never sent it.

Oh well... sorry to see your deals didn't go well. I have yet involved in a bad deal.. In fact I won an auction on Sunday, and I got my stuff today! Talk about fast shipping. Hope it all goes well for you.

If anyone remembers, I had a similar thread about 2 weeks ago. I bought NFS: HP (paid a whole lot too) and didn't ask for any shipping confirmation or anything. Package didn't come for 2 weeks. I posted on here asking for advice. Was told that not much I could do, except ask for a refund. Package came 2 days later, by regular mail, not Priority mail as he had promised. I was like oh well, maybe karma will come around to him.

27.99 is a lot for a DVD even if it is 2 disk. Anyways, in the future I don't suggest you use the words friggin, if you go about it in a professional way, the mediators and possibly the seller will be more resonable, just a thought...

At least it was only $28 plus shipping lost. It could have been considerably more. I've always had good luck with eBay.

file with paypal for money back..

i ordered a nforce2 mobo from this guy on ebay.
paid paypal and after like 2 weeks no board..i'm in SF, he's in LA...hours apart.
I paid $10 for usps with dc/tracking...got neither.
plus he said he threw away receipt. i filed with paypal...he refunded.
i really believe this dude did send out the board...but tough luck it never arrived.
maybe he got it back i dunno.

And he's right, regardless of the fact that you dont have the DVD, you both were acting like arrogant pricks. For all you know, it was sent, and youll be able to verify by the postmark if and when you get it.

Seller claims to have shipped it the same day auction ended. I don't know any packages that would take over 2 weeks to be delivered, unless he was sending it 10th class mail.

LOL Very entertaining, kinda was hoping it would not end.

This is why I prefer to sell rather than buy on eBay and I am very very paranoid which pays off.

You can contact paypal and tell them the seller hasn't provided you with proof of delivery and the will refund the charges back to your account. This has happened to me once before, it takes a few weeks but you DO get your money back!

Great for selling junk and buying junk :) I realize that after 2-3 years of experience and I quit doing business with ebay shady business practice where you paid good money for something that are of no use to someone else, this is why I call them junk.
