I'm running orthos stable at 3.4 ghz right now. Idle at 40C, load temps are around 65C which are high I know but i'm blaming this on my Zalman.

My next step will be to lap the heatspreader and see if that makes a big difference. If it doesn't I'll probably upgrade to a Tuniq 120.

CPU core is 1.475, with a 1.41 orthos droop. I know I can go higher, but I'm afraid to right now with these temps

Nice! I just finished a build with the same processor and mobo. I had it 24 hrs Orthos stable at 3.2Ghz using a Tuniq Tower. Temps didn't go over 60, the Tuniq may help your temps a bit. I definitely like it better than my Scythe Infinity. The screw downs of the Tuniq were a lot easier to secure than the push pins on the Scythe.

Nice job. I have an Ultra 120 w/ Dual Fans in Push/Pull and I'm running my E6400 at 3.6GHz at 37C idle/56C load.
I had a Zalman 9700LED and it sucked. At this OC, i was running 45C/63C. Get a Tuniq Tower or an Ultra 120.

You should use CoreTemp to monitor your temps, as most monitors usually read temps too high.

actually, real core temps are usually about 10c higher than what you get from most 'traditional' temp monitors, like the ones that come from the mobo manufacturer.

what are you using to check temps?

you should get TAT or speedfan beta.

I'm using Coretemp and Speedfan 4.32. They both report the same temps.
