my E: drive partition is messed up >:(

i got a new 160gb hard drive and i was moving all of my files from my other 2 HDs onto the new one because i am going to sell them. now there is a problem on my partition E drive on the 160gig. all of my zip files are corrupted, some video files open to other video files or open mp3 files instead of play the video file. and some video files cant even open. i think the indexes are messed up. is there anyway to fix this? it's messed up bad.
 
If you have WindowsXP, it might automatically fix the partition tables for you. Usually after a clean install and reboot, XP does an automatic disk check before booting into the desktop, and fixes it.

Just try rebooting a couple times.
 
i rebooted before and this thing adding all these index files and moving or relocation "orphaned" files or something like that. and this is happening after it did that

It always fixed it when it was relocating "orphans".
 
with corrupted partition, you're better of starting all over again. You can just use the XP installation disk to do this. You can try other third party software, but there's nothing like a clean slate. With this hdd being secondary it shouldn't be a problem.
 
Format the disk. Try again. If you're over clocking, stop. If you use crappy round cables, use standard ones instead. Run chkdisk.
 
i cant start over, i use "cut" to move the files over instead of "copy". i ran chkdsk and it found a bunch of errors. how do i get chkdsk to fix it?
