lol I don't really buy that many dvds anymore. Plus that collection number is deceiving... for example, Monty Python's Flying Circus is 1 entry, but it's like 17 dvds... Same thing with the bond movies.

Already done. FreeNAS + Xbox Media Center. FreeNAS gives you a great FreeBSD-based file server that is very simple to install & maintain; it supports RAID as well. XBMC plays back any format over a network, including ISO files. In addition, XBMC downloads the DVD cover as well as the DVD data such as summary for you to read on-screen. You can browse by title or DVD cover. Your NAS could be fairly affordable with recent price drops in hard drives. Build a $400 computer with a RAID card (or just do software RAID), throw in eight 750gb Seagates @ $199 a pop, and you've got your 6TB NAS for $2k 😀

This is interesting indeed. I burned a good chunk of mine to a 750gb seagate but withotu any backup. I do want to put them all on a NAS and this might be the answer.

I use DVDSpot, works great for me, and it's free.

The search features and stats are way better.

err, you got it upside down... 1 entry in collection represent 17dvds in that extreme case.
for the bond movies, it's like 1 entry for 5 movies or something.
P.S. TV seasons would also show up as 1 entry though there is usually 4-5 dvds per season.

I have about 350 DVDs but I never watch any of them. I was wondering how much they would fetch online.

Yes, I listed each movie and did not set a reserve.
