My DVD burner won't write anymore

My DVD burner will write anymore. It's a Sony DVD RW AW-G170S. Its only 8 months old and I barely have used it. However, it does READ fine.

Is it a bad burner or did something get screwed up on the software side? I want to try all options before I chuck it and buy a new one.

This a good freware burner software try it if it does not work it is not the "end of the world" new burners go for less than $30.

Thanks, But I have a couple of DVD burner suites that have worked in the past. I was just wonder if my drive has gone out due to hardware failure or if there is some othere reason such as a corrupted driver or something.

If anybody has any ideas on how to trouble shoot before I call newegg please let me know.

When something like this happens it is usually hardware failure.

However log to the support site might e that there is a new Firmware. Flash it into the Burner and see what happens.

If it is less than a year old. Why not try to RMA it before flashing it?

I can't find any updates. There is no record of this model. I have been to the Sony site as well as the Nec site. If anybody knows where to find it I would appreciate it.
