I just built a 1gig Morgan@1gig and it is running hot. Around 56-57 idle. Havent tried full load but I am sure it will be 59-60. I have a Globalwin FOP(the low end model) with default cooler. Am also using AS II with a thin layer. Only have 1 case fan though.

Any ideas?

what size is the case? if there is room id drop another two fans in it. two for exhaust one for intake. also u can take the side cover of the case off and see if your temps improve any. hows the amb temps in the room its in?

Not sure on temps in the room. I am guessing around 60-70F range. In another room I have a Athlon 1.4 that runs 45C and it has 1 fan intake,1fan out an of course the fan on the PSU that is taking air out. Think thats the problem? I need a fan taking air out? Only problem is, is there is only 1 place for a fan mount on this case. There aint one in the very back of the case.

My sister doesnt want any holes drilled.

then i would say thats the problem. the case. pick up a cheap mid tower case (most of em have atleast 3 fan slots) and swap everything over. i bet anything you see a nice improvement. keep in mind that its better to have more exhaust than intake. get that heat OUT! just think of all the heat that PC is building up inside in that case u have...then u will see why the CPU is running so hot.

I don't understand why it is running that hot. The heatsink is kinda ruff on the bottom on it. Not very smooth at all. I put the ASII on as it showed on their web site. I do have a copper based Thermaltake Volcano 6cu+ but the copper part sticks out a hair more than the base and I am afraid I will crack the core since it will put more presure on it.

Should I give it a try and just how strong are these cores?

I quit fooling around with these little noisy case fans. Went to Wal Mart and bought a quiet $8 fan that runs on 120v. Fits in my mid twr case and dropped my cpu temp down 10d C (P3, 700@933, but its needing 1.85v to do this). Dropped my p.s. temp way back also. This was the best option for the $.
Everything is cooler now.

Asus A7M266. Well this case has no case fan mounts in it except for the front. I think my main concern is there aint one in the back to blow out the hot air. If the CPU fan keeps recycleing the same warm out it is blowing then it is gonna run hot. My Enhance PSU is pushing out out but there aint enought holes in the PSU case to put hot air out fast enough.

I think its the mobo. I am gonna call Asus Monday and ask them. It is nice a cool in the room with the panel off and the lowest it will drop is 56c. With it on about 59c. I can feel the heatsink and it is barely warm.

My 1Ghz Morgan runs at 38C idle, about 48-49 under full load and it's really hot here. I have a Spire HSF (average quality).
Case cooling is very important, make sure there's at least one fan taking out the hot air of the cpu.

Unless I missed it above, I haven't seen any mention of vcore in this thread. If the vcore is set too high, your cpu temps can soar. I had a Duron Morgan 1.0 and it idled in the low 30's and hit the high 30's under load. And that was with an average fan (Taisol). I believe the vcore on it was around 1.75. My new Athlon 1.4 runs quite a bit hotter: roughly 43/49. But when I first installed it is was running in the 50's all the time, so I added a 92mm case fan in the bottom of my case and checked the vcore. In the bios, my motherboard (Iwill KK266) vcore was set on Auto and gave a reading of 1.84 - too much. So I manually lowered the vcore to around 1.75. The combination of lowering the vcore and installing a case fan lowered the average cpu temp by about 10 degrees. Hope that helps.
