My Duron 700 is running at 42 degrees.

Are you measuring it via a external temp probe, or the inbuilt motherboard probe?
I measured the heatsink temperature using a digital thermometer and found my chip heatsink runs about 33 degrees C under load, so the core is probably a few degrees over the heatsink temp (Duron 600@1000 1.80v/ FOP-32 heatsink)

Make sure ur using good quality heatsink grease! (arctic silver )

I'm going to be getting a Duron 600 that was unlocked via the pencil trick...what's the best way to cool it? The person I'm buying from said he tested it at 1 GHz with a Vantek Blue HSF (or something) from 2cooltek.com (it's $15)...Is there a signicantly better fan? Also, what should one do to avoid crushing it? I'm thinking of getting a spacer, too...

Arctic Silver is the best kind of thermal compound?


Oh yeah, i heard some people had trouble w/ their durons after awhile...and that redoing the pencil marks solved their troubles...how do you apply the pencil marks, and with what?

I used the pencil trick using #2 lead. i used the probe software that came with the board. i tried booting it with 950 MHZ using 9.5 at 1.75 volts. The hell it rocks. just not sure about the cooling though.

Yeah, the duron i'm getting tested at 1 GHz, so I'm thinking I'll probably run it at 7.5 * 133, or maybe, 933 (7 * 133) or 865 (6.5 * 133)...either way, i'd be happy

Hmmm.... i'd check your heatsink again. The k7t PRO series of mb's do not have any sort of compensation, so the readings tend to be at least -8C lower than core temp.

anybody able to run their FSB higher than 100?? i can only go up to 102 or 103 before things get unstable...like errors in prime95 test

I've had my best luck with the multiplier. When I start to fiddle with the FSB, I get instability with my KT7. Maybe they'll fix that with a BIOS upgrade.

if you want to use high bus speeds (like over 110) wait until boards based on the KT133A chipset come out
