I don't know what happened, but my camera is broken. I'm now in the market for a new digital camera that I can swap lenses, etc. I'm in the $300 to $500 market to get started. Any suggestions for make/model are appreciated!

Anyway, you might see if you can find a Sony Alpha A100 on clearance right now as they are going for under $500 these days. If you want to go a bit above, the Sony A200 is at $550 (check pricegrabber.com). Pentax, I think, has a model within your price range. The Nikon D40 is in there as well.

I'm partial to Sony since that's my brand.

A vote here for the Nikon D40. I'm sure you could get one for under $500 used with a kit lens.

yeah, its pretty easy to grab one locally for under $500 now. I got mine from BB a few weeks back when it was on sale for $499 then just used a 12% coupon to drop it down to $439 plus tax
