I am itching badly for a new phone but there is nothing out there interesting. First and foremost it must be CDMA. The fact is unless you live in a major city 3G GSM is not going to happen, CMDA is where it is at. Next I want either Windows Mobile or Adnroid. The Dare and Voyager are both interesting but I want a more flexible OS. The wish list continues with user accessible GPS and a memory expansion slot. A nice amount on internal memory would be nice as well. The HTC Diamond is close but only 4GB of internal with no way to add aditional is a killer. An dedicated keyboard doesn't matter, I'm flexible there. Anything on the horizon I am missing?

Oh and stereo bluetooth is needed as well.

The Verizon version of the Touch Diamond will forgo the 4gb for 512 mb plus a microSD slot. Also, the Touch pro is comming out, replacing the Mogul/ppc6800, which, btw, already meets all your criteria. Verizon said a while back they wanted to do a Android based phone, but I havent heard anything lately about it.

The Mogul/PPC6800 is just way to big. Very nice phone no doubt, but to large for today. 512MB is a bit drastic but I'll take that to be able to stick a 32GB SDHC card in there. I would prefer Verizon, Sprint has been grating my nerves recently, so that just may be the ticket. Any news on a release date? I had been looking around for info on upcoming Verizon phones but haven't had any luck.

According to this article, the touch diamond will be comming out for VZW in early December. And the VZW version will only have 1/2 the ram (128mb vs. 256mb) as the Sprint touch diamond.

Found some info on the Samsung Omnia. WM 6.1, two models one with 8GB of memory the other with 16GB both expandable through SD. It has on over 3" screen with xvid support out of the box, built in GPS, still unsure of stereo bluetooth

Why only those OSes? Have you used all the other ones and they don't appeal to you?

Being a CDMA user myself, thats pretty much the only OS' we get. SonyErricsson said years ago they wouldnt make cdma phones anymore, and Nokia stopped a couple of years back due to licensing disagreements w/ Qualcomm. So no UIQ or S60 on CDMA. And untill Palm finally gets an os update and joins the 21st century, thats not an option for me.

Ah, well the reason I ask is that the blackberry storm is coming to Verizon and it might be what the OP is looking for. The only problem I see is that it only has 1gig of onboard memory, but has the microSD slot.

Thanks uli, looks like stereo bluetooth is in the mix, this is looking even more promising.

gorcorps, blackberry is a no go. Primarily because I have no use for blackberry service so that would $30 a month completely wasted.

Another interesting development is that we just got Tmobile but no 3G until the end of next year.

Whatever floats your boat, but you're not forced into a data plan with blackberry like you are with the iphone. I have a blackberry and I didn't have any other service on it except for text messaging for several months. I ended up getting the $30 unlimited net plan though as I spent my summer working out of state and google maps helped me find everything I needed.

What provider are you with? All the ones I have spoken with have required a BB plan above and beyond the data plan. I have no issues with a data plan as I have to have one for my uses but no use for the BB email packages.

Right now I am on a sero plan so essentially $0. As soon as they start pro-rating ETF's I will likely be jumping ship to Verizon. I need to get a family plan and Verizon tends to come out cheaper. In this area Verizon has better coverage. I only went with Sprint due to the Sero plan to start with. Before that I had AT&T but will not go back due to excessive data charges and no 3G coverage in my area.
