My dorm has a fiber-optic Y1 connection (6 MBit) and 70 free cable channels available to all rooms. Plus we have lounges on each floor with 60" TVs, VCRs, and DVD players. There's air hockey and foosball too.

Your dorm = 0wned. :D

good god!!! i would never go to class... i'm on a capped ti here 256down 1500up... :( but we've got 70 cable channels, free hbo, starz and skinamax. each of the three lounges in the building have 60" tv's, there is a weight room in the basement, along with a sauna and hot tub, and a few pool tables.

but i'd give it all up for that connection in my dorm :D

Obviously not from AT being a non-subscriber.....

Gotten many sites that went that fast, mainly larger ones. Downloaded a 1.7GB video from a NASA FTP last night in under 5 minutes. I'd predict that it'll slow down a little once everyone is done moving in, though.

I go to the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and I stay in Scott Residence Hall, which was built from Walter Scott Jr's grant money. He's quite rich...:D Oh, and did I mention the scholarship I have provides all this for free? :D

to my knowledge I though RIT had a hell of a lot faster connection then just 5mbit. I remember some of the ftps over at RIT receiving at over 3-5megabytes a second (about 24-40mbit) from other fast colleges. Of course, this was freeware, non-copyrighted information and programs being sent.

Edit: and btw, this is what my connection got from my house (Optonline) My Speed

My best friend goes to RIT. One weekend when almost everyone else had gone home he maxed out his network card and did a download at 100Mbits/sec!

EDIT: Just for the record, I think RIT has either one or two OC/12s going into it. But some of that is dedicated internet 2. They just had 2 OC/3s when he started 3 years ago.
