My dog...

I've had this dog for about three or four years which we got from a shelter. We think she's about ten years old according to her really gray, cloudy look in her eyes. Well anyway, she just constantly cries and moans. She has food, water, a chance to go out, four other dogs to accompany her and I'm usually down here sitting on my ass in front of this computer but she's always barking and crying and we don't know why. Anyone have any idea what her problem is? This has gone beyond the scope of just lonliness but I think my dog is severely depressed or something. She is, unfortunately, cooped up in the house for about 3/4 of her life since my family is always on the go and since it's so damn cold out, we can't take her for any walks. We don't neglect her or anything, in fact, she gets the most attention out of the 5. (Always smelling her beaver *puke*) I dunno, what do you think? I'm on the verge of flipping out and karate chopping her back.

try taking her on a walk, does she perk up a lot? If so, obviously she needs exercise.

Sounds stupid...but it may work, take her to an animal shrink. They can usually figure out whats wrong and help you out!

Take the damn dog to a freakin' veterinarian. Geez. I have two dogs and I can tell immediately when their mood changes. If they act lilke they're in pain or sick, I take them to the vet. If the vet finds nothing and the dog is still acting strange then find a good dog trainer. You would be amazed what those people know about dogs.

At ten years old, she could be developing arthritis or hip or elbow dysplasia, among many other conditions that affect older dogs and could cause them pain (hence the whining). Please take her to a vet.

Bingo. If I see that little yellow lightbulb come back on over your name and you haven't got news from the vet (or are posting via WiFi from their office) I'm coming to deliver a complimentary beating on your pooch's behalf.

No, no, no. I love dogs but this dog is such a bitch. I was only joking about the chopping anyway.

adding to the list of things that could be wrong with her and why you should take her to a vet, she may have a painful cancer.
