We washed him down with the BakingSoda/Dish Soap/Peroxide mix. (My vet tech freind told me about it).

So now we're waiting for that to work. And then we're going to rinse him. Any have any additional advice?

::EDIT:: Update

Damn, i got a nice really potent candle bruning in my room, and i can still smell skunk.

Like it sprayed me. This is going to drive me insane

yeah, we're gonna do that. Kenel is getting a relocation (hmm... we havent used that for years, i hope he still fits inside)

MythBusters tried to figure out what worked best once, and the bakingsoda whatever combo worked best for some reason. better than the pro stuff

I also had that happen to my dog about a year ago. I used the same stuff your vet told you about and also bought some skunk shampoo from a vet. Nothing really completely removed the smell right away though. I had to bath him several times just to make it bearable, but he still smelled like skunk for a week or so.

tomato juice really works

No it doesn't. The only really effective method is baking soda, peroxide and dish detergent. Tomato juice is worthless, you wind up with a bloody mary and skunk.
