It's HP's fusion E-350 based netbook. 300GB HD, 3GB RAM. It was a nice surprise to see it here yesterday, the original ETA was shipping on the 15th of March.

Loaded windows 7 enterprise 64-bit immediately, had to get rid of all the annoying HP crapware. Haven't run any benchmarks, but it feels much faster than my old Dell atom-based mini. Just for fun I loaded up Rift, a game I've been playing lately, and it runs, sorta. 15-20 fps while running on battery, I am guessing it might gain a bit when plugged in if things are clocked down while on battery. Battery life seems amazing so far, it's funny how even after running for 10 minutes on battery windows still estimates the battery at 100%.

I'm not sure I like the network jack cover, but it doesn't matter too much because I'll be using wireless mostly.

Anyone have any benchmarks or tests I could run?

i just wanted to see if it would run rift and minecraft. it sounds like it should be equal to the m1303 i'm using now, so that's good enough for me.

gah. doesn't ship until march 29th.

Grats on your netbook :)

Starcraft 2 fps in a 4v4 match at 720p @ low quality please!

I haven't tested it in a multiplayer game, but at low settings 1366X768, I get 20-30 fps doing campaign missions. Mostly 25-30, only dips to 20 occasionally, but I could see the fps taking a nose dive in a big multiplayer game with hundreds of units on the board.

there is an anandtech review of the zacate that basically says the same thing (pretty sure it's anandtech). basically it bogs during matches with lots of spawns, down into the single digits in some cases. but it's fine for most single player.

i played a bit of minecraft last night. the game runs fine, but i continue to be surprised how resource heavy it seems to be. going to install rift and maybe league of legends today and see how it handles those.

tried watching some netflix today, ugh. it was going about 1 frame per minute. i'll have to see if there is a new version of silverlight or something. flash works fine, but apparently there's still an issue with silverlight and fusion. that or netflix streaming is messed up again.

edit: apparently it's only HD streaming. oh well.

Reinstalled windows, not because I needed to but because I just wanted a clean install to test some things. One nice thing I noticed, after loading hp's wireless driver I connected to my wireless network and went to windows update, all the drivers are on windows update so no need to mess around with installing them from HP as far as I can tell. I'll probably look for the latest and greatest AMD video drivers, but for the rest of the drivers as long as it works I am happy and getting them from windows update just makes reinstalls so much easier.

Netflix seems to work as expected for me, at usual fps. Is there some specific movie that isn't working for you?

I've noticed an error in event viewer, event ID 10, error 0x80041003 Do you get the same error? Seems to occur fairly often. Searching for a fix points me to a lot of pages of people seeing the error on vista and fixing it with sp2, but I am running windows 7 64 sp1 and all updates. The error occurs even on a fresh install with only the network driver installed (I didn't check before installing the driver, it probably occurs without it as well). Nothing seams to really be hurt by the error, but I like to have a nice clean event viewer.

i haven't seen any noticeable errors, but i will check my event viewer. i was watching BSG on netflix, wouldn't hold up in HD, but worked fine in SD. i'm running the "minimal" reinstall of windows 7 from the HP install with the updated AMD Fusion driver.

This seems like a very intriguing model. I'm looking to buy something to replace my aging Lenovo S9 netbook. Sorry to hear about your HD streaming troubles. Sounds like a strange bug as the graphics chip should be able to handle HD.

Keep us posted, would ya?

re: erikistired

How well does league of legends run? and on what settings can you max it out at with tolerable fps?

Thanks!

I bought a dm1z with coupon for 350 + shipping/tax , but ended up selling it. It seems like a very nice laptop; however, I wanted to see what other fusion laptops are coming out and needed the money lol.

sorry it took me so long to reply. it runs okay. i have everything set to low with shadows off and fps hovers around 30 fps. obviously it's not going to be beautiful, but for a quick game on the go it works fine.
