what should i get to replace it?

it has started resetting itself a couple times a day. last time it was doing that a flash fixed it. but of course as that is already applied it probably isn't the same problem. right?

interesting, my DI-624 seems to do the same thing....

Randomly disconnects all computers connected to it, or sometimes randomly drops the ip from the modem...

coming from a newb?

what does it have to do that he's a newb, he's right.

I'd suggest a linksys I suppose, with the open source firmware business gotta be decent.

My Linksys BEFW11S4 is over 4 years old now, and it is still plugging away like a champ. Good thing, too, because they costed over $300 back in 2001 :(

None of the AirLink products at Fry's are worth it. Their routers are SLOW! My pings were 3x as slow with AirLink vs. LinkSys, wired and wireless. Returned the AirLink promptly.

My Microsoft 802.11b (MS left the hardware networking business) which I purchased 3 years ago still works like a champ.

What about their wireless cards? Say, a pci connecting to a linksys/dlnk/netgear router. Wonder if they're any good for that.

I'd bet it is a hardware issue and not a firmware one from your description. I've seen that pattern, and firmware flashing did nothing.

You're not the only one that this has happened to. I bought a dlink and it did the same thing out of the box. Returned it.

What firmware are you using? Since I upgraded to 2.53 I rarely reboot now. You should also try standing it up so that it gets more air.

Heh, funny. My D-link 714P is doing the same thing. But its disconnecting once every week or so.

To the person that said 'netgear baby!', my last one also did the same, cept it was more frequent.

I'll keep buying cheap sh!t routers cause they cost nothing now, and I get at least an year to 2 years out of them.
