I almost asked what your handle was on AVS...then my pea-sized brain saw that "sibuna" backwards was...yeah.

So i may have just experience pure audio nirvana. Was playing some stuff today, the clarity is incredible. pretty amazing hearing things in songs Ive listened to 100000000 times and picking up things i hadn't before. These speakers actually give my Grados a run for clarity.
Back on the nirvana comment i actually fell asleep listing to music at near reference in a tiny room. That may strike some as very odd, but to me its not. the loudness is a non factor when its as clean as the sound coming out of these speakers. i closed my eyes and felt like i became one with my sofa and just drifted away
Distortion can make things sound louder than they actually are, or make them sound bad, but physical pain is usually caused more often by compression (loudness war) or clipping.on some tracks that hurt my ears at high volumes with other speakers these just sang along without the pain (assume because of no distortion)

Sorry, I forgot to add the qualifier at "reasonable SPLs".Please educate me and provide links and substantiation.
Only sound pressure can cause pain, distorted, compressed, clipped or not.
http://www.dr-lex.be/info-stuff/loudness_wars.htmlTo get really to the limit, I insanely amplified a song until it only contained clipped waveforms, i.e. amplitudes of −1 and 1. The result has a RG gain of −19dB and is painful to listen to even at low volume(4)
