My desktop!! My desktop!! How to clear my desktop!!

As it says, I want a clean desktop. I can get everything but three things off. My Computer, Trash Can and Network Neib. So, how do I remove those three items. I'm poitive it is a registry hack, but which key? Or is there some software?

umm, because I hate having crap on my desktop. I want a fully "customized" pc, and that is certainly one step. I already have a shortcut to it in my start bar, now I just need to get it off the desktop. I'm trying to convince myself NOT to change the energy star logo @ startup, cuz I dont wanna screw up my BIOS. But, in the pursuit of customization, I'm not having much luck....🙂

uhm, if you're using win98, right click the desktop, go to properties. Go to the Effects tab, choose hide icons when desktop is viewed as a webpage, then go to the web tab, and choose view my active desktop as a webpage.

I guess if you don't mind having active desktop enabled this is the easy way. I know Active Desktop is more of a memory hog, so the reg edit is a resource saver.

late.

I put everything on my desktop into a new toolbar and set the toolbar to pop up from the side of the screen (looks just like another taskbar). Works great! The only thing I have left on the desktop is the stuff you're trying to get rid of...hmm, I might just have to get rid of it myself 😉

Yeah I have mine as View Desktop as Webpage and Hide Desktop Icons when Viewed as Webpage.

Once you do that, you might want to remember the Winkey+Pause shortcut...

I also suggest you check out Winkey it even includes an NT-style taskmanager!

If you are into it that much I would use Lightstep. Then you can make your desktop do what ever you want for nothing to anything.
