what are the symptoms? I mean, I can kind of tell, but what exactly is going on?

When I went to Germany, my laptop started freaking out right when I arrived. It wouldn't respond well at all to any input. It ended up that somehow, while it was packed, the keyboard module had shifted slightly and the left-arrow key got jammed into place under the palmrest. All I had to do was shift the keyboard 1/8 inch or so, and it popped back into place and worked fine :)

don't worry too much about it though.... the keyboard is by far the easiest thing to replace on a laptop (well, barring things like swappable CD-ROM drives and stuff), and you can easily go to the store and buy a cheap external keyboard to use temporarily :)

You might want to try reseating the keyboard controller. You should be able to free the keyboard by unscrewing the screws marked "K" on the bottom of the laptop. Try and carefully disconnect the controller and reseat it. See what happens.

I hada similar problem with my lappy and reseating the keyboard controller worked.

Why don't you just go buy another keyboard?
They aren't all that expensive. ;)

Ya know... it'd probably help if I would pay attention to the laptop part. But I still say buy an external one... that's what I use with my Inspiron since it never leaves my desk.

apoppin where are you? :D

I recommend to everyone that buys a laptop to buy a 3 year warranty (at least). Laptops aren't easy or cheap to fix!

Of course did I buy a 3 year warranty for my Compaq? Nope. I'm hoping nothing major will break on it.
