Then you must have done a piss-poor job explaining it, because nothing you posted was new information to me.
A higher quality (higher resolution) stream still has to track according to motion, does it not?
the stream doesn't track anything. That image I posted above is a screen shot from a 4k stream. It is showing EVERYTHING at once. It is wrapped around a 3d sphere by the video player that you, the viewer, are stuck inside. When viewing the sphere, you are only looking at a small portion of the picture at one time. So you can be streaming a 4k video, but you are only looking at, pulling numbers out of my ass right now, a 700x500 chunk at any one time. When you turn around 90 degrees, you are simply looking at a different part of that sphere. And even though you may be looking at say, the south part of a video, you are still being streamed the north, west, and east parts of the video even though you are not looking at it.
So if I was viewing a 720p 360 stream, I am only looking at a 120x80 chunk at a time. And while I can't generally see the far corners due to the lenses, I technically have a resolution of 640x720 for each eye available on my screen.
