Got to ride in an S2000 with someone who hammered on it, 9000RPMs sounds pretty nice 😎 The RX7 TT was VERY fun to ride in as well, and got to see some other very nice cars up close - fun day 😀
i was also thinking about an Audi 5 cylinder turbo engine, i could fetch something like that rather cheap as well.
it might be difficult to mount though.

Ugh, why? The Wankel is the heart of the RX7 - it's what makes the car what it is....why would you wanna gut an engine and swap it with a weaker 5 cyl engine???
Just rebuild it. Those motors need it about every 75k miles anyway. The amount you would spend converting to any other motor would be more than a rebuild.
Check out www.car-part.com. They don't list your province on there, and I don't know enough about RX-7's to decide if you have a 12A or 13B engine, but just about any part you could need is listed on there.
I saw a RX-7 w/ a SBC in it at the drag strip a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, the guy seemed to be having troubles or he was packing up and I didn't get to see him run. He fired it up as we were walking up and I just said to the guy, "That's not a stock motor is it?" He just grinned and said "Nope." Wicked looking & sounding car.
