ok obviously this kid wants a ban, can someone give it to him?

we don't need your kind of uptight people around here! I call for a ban because I don't like the way you think!

Ban!

waits to see how it takes the parents to blame GTA: San Andreas for this...

sucks for the parents though...

What is difference between the 9 year olds who know not to run in front of a car/train versus those who don't...is it school? is it what they watch on TV? see in the movies? peer pressure?

Whoa, gruesome. I don't even want to imagine what a few hundred tons of momentum hitting a 9 year old would look like.

how a horribly tragic, preventable accident.

Her poor parents. It is really sad.

🙁

While I feel bad for her family and friends I feel more for the train crew. They had to watch the whole tragedy unfold before them unable to prevent it.

The guy was trying to antagonize the op over a kid getting hit by the train. Maybe its just me, but i dont see why you want this kid trolling on the boards.

It sounds like the town needs to do something about it. Perhaps a crossover bridge or something. Its not rational to have kids running across moving trains to get to the other side and not do something about it.

Let me guess....you are a liberal? Must be. Did you not read tha part about the crossing arms being DOWN and the train blowing it's whistle? Why should tax dollars be used to prevent a few dumbasses from walking in front of a moving train....SOMETHING EVERYONE IS TAUGHT ABOUT WHEN A KID. This accident is tragic but it is the little girl's own fault. I realize that does not make it any better but it sure doesn't justify wasting tax dollars because people do not exercise due care. Kids are shown movies in Elementary school to teach them the dangers of train tracks and train crossings and these crossings have been around for 150+ years without overpasses.....why are people today so stupid that the world has to be built to dumbass-proof standards?

One plus of a over pass or pedestrian tunnel is that it would reduce or hopefully relieve some of the trauma visited on the train crews that have to live weith the memory of these accidents.

I assume that, by your definition, anything controversial is a 'troll'

Maybe it's borderline, I agree, but you're getting too bent out of shape. Don't feed the trolls. Move on. If you really feel that someone is trolling you (remember, you aren't the police for everyone) contact the mods about it.

Anything controversial is not a troll. Someone blatantly saying a 9 year old deserves to die for being stupid, then posting 10 times in the thread to reiterate that point for no reason is a troll.

So stop being an idiot and making stupid assumptions that have no relevence to what I post.

Judy Baumgartner, an aide at Hudson Elementary, described the child as smart and outgoing. "When it's someone you know personally, it's hard," she said. Baumgartner said it's not unusual for kids to run between the train cars, to get to school.

The kids are running between moving train cars? 😕

no. see my edit. those trains are going 70 MPH + when they blow through town, unless they are on the side track waiting for another train to pass.

OK, I'm still a little confused. Did she try to beat the train at the crossing and tripped or something?

from what i heard from the people who saw it she was on her bike and saw the train coming. the crossing arms were down and the lights and bells were going. she got off her bike and tried to run across the track before the train got there. well like i said the trains travel at 70mph+ and she tried to run infront of the engine before the road was blocked as it passed.

her body was covered by a tent about 100 yards from the crossing. i saw the tent when i was going home. and thought a car got creamed. but they had her covered to protect her from the 4 news helicopters flying over.
Damn.. that is tragic. 🙁 It sounds like a simple misjudgement..... One of those situations where you think you'll make it, so you start... but then realize you won't, at which point it's already too late.....

Unfortunately, you have to go through that a few times to get a good handle on how the world works. Unfortunately for her, she decided to practice with something that was fatal.

🙁

My wife babysits a couple of kids of the teachers who teach at the little girls school. (also my kids school) and they are planning on some sort of fund raiser for the girls family. I am short on cash so my wife suggested that I put my massage therapy company name on the list and on the day of the fund raiser I give massages and donate all the proceedes to the girls family.

what do you think? good idea or Inappropriate?

good idea

lol, sorry.

I don't see why it would be a bad idea. Why did you think that it possibly could be? The sensual/intimate nature of massage or something? Shrug.

It's just showing your support. Don't think having your businesses name on the list could possibly be taken as a bad thing.

It's a good idea.

I had a classmate who was killed by a train when I was in high school. The train killed him and his 2 friends. The conductor said they were sitting on the track, and he couldn't stop in time.
