Wait, why didn't she try out for the Naval Academy? Instead of enlisted?

Why did she choose to go in to the armed services? In what did she earn her associate degree?
If you want to comfort your wife: At least she didn't join the Army or the Marines 😀
I got sick as a dog but I didn't say anything because I didn't want to get singled out. I couldn't eat for a couple of days because my tonsils were so swollen. One day at breakfast I couldn't even swallow liquids. That's when I told the DI.
Turns out I had strep throat and pneumonia. The DI got his ass chewed by the doc who was a major. Then the DI chewed me out and asked why I didn't saw anything. I told him I didn't want to get chewed out.
Spent 5 days in the hospital and missed all BRM practice. On the day I got out I had to qualify. I still qualified expert.
had another guy in group that had a molar cracked when getting his wisdom teeth removed. bleed and swelled up so much so quickly they had to keep him medicated & in the bunk for about a couple days before they could pull it then about another week after for it all to heal.
Basic is a harrowing time for a lot of people, especially the current generations that are spending less and less time outside. It will definately break you down and you will more than likely get sick, body has to get used to working 20+ hours a day with non-stop physical exercise, it's definately pretty rough. Can't speak for the Navy.
everybody gets sick in basic, its nothing new.
its gotta be rough for the kids who cant go without fucking looking at their phone every 2 min or updating facebook when they take a shit. only being able to call home on sundays for 5 min must be utter hell for them.
no offense man but ur daughter should be going to college, not joining the military. its better u tell her now before she wastes a couple years of her life. doing pushups and firing missles isnt good experience for a real job

And WTF do you know about any of it?
I did 20 years as a Missile Technician. It wasn't a waste I pull 6 figures a year... In a large part is due to the training I got in the US Navy.
But thanks for your 2 cents. :|
She has her associates so going in as a E3. She is physically strong and smart so I know she will do great.
We put all of her stuff in boxes last night (holy shit she has too much crap) and made 2 boxes that she wants sent to her when she gets to A school. its weird seeing the room she has had since she was 6 years old now empty but the bed. wife has been crying all day and to be honest I am pretty sad as well.

Doesn't the military pay for college with enough service? Could be a good investment for those without loaded parents, at least with current college tuition prices these days...
