Actually, the first web site that comes up under google is BMW's official web site. And, BMW's official web site says it is a 4.4 liter engine. I don't know about you, but if I want to look up a new car's engine size, I'd probably go straight to the source instead of google. But I'm not a noob.Originally posted by: aRCeNiTe

If you want to get technical, it's 4.398. Some people though around here would argue that that is the same thing as 4.4
Don't worry, if you do a google on 545i, some sites show that it's a 4.5L, so there's more than just him that is mistaken. Go smack your dog.

Wow, you actually goto the maker's website? Whodathunk. My point was that he isn't the only one mistaken about the engine size. BMW's site said 4.398, not 4.4 ^^

When I said race, I meant just to go on a empty street and floor it and see who's is faster 😉.
My dad had a '99 540i, but the lease just ended, so he decided to "treat" himself with the 545i.
I didn't know they were turning sub-6 sec 0-60s...interesting.
Treating yourself is not going 540i to 545i....treating would be the Alpina, M5 or Z8....he just got transportation. Might be a nice brag on ClubSi though, sort of wasted here.

I'm curious, what is it that you drive that puts a 545i in the league of "just transportation?"
Come to my neighborhood and there is nothing special about a $60k esp coming from another $60k car.
If you work in a field were you are entertaining VIP's and clients an car like this is merely transportation....nothing to be impressed with, however, not that I wouldn't like such a car. A $60k sportscar is a little more impressive esp when you consider you have to have another vehicle most of the times....same thing with toys.
It's obviously a brag post, however, not so impressive to me at least.

At rest or in motion, the new 2004 545i is a picture of grace, with a fiery edge. Powered by a commanding 4.4-liter, 325-hp V-8 engine with Valvetronic, the new 545i delivers no-holds-barred performance and agility. With innovative Xenon Adaptive Headlights, Intelligent Safety and Information System (ISIS), and a roomier, richly detailed cabin, the new 545i exceeds all expectations.
So, you're wrong. BMW's web site does indeed say 4.4L. The auto industry likes to use one decimal place when referring to the size of their engine. I guess I'll have to explain this new wonder called "rounding," too.
Oh, rounding...? What's that? Oh, that thing that they teach you in middle school to be more important than actual calculations, I remember that. I'm not really sure what I said that I was "wrong" about, we just have a difference in mathematical perception I guess.

You were wrong because you said the BMW web site did not say the engine was 4.4L in size. However, when you type in "545i" as you suggested in google and go to the first link, it indeed says 4.4L. That's the point I was trying to make. But to be exact, sure, the engine is 4398cc. However, I was simply referring to the liter rating to one decimal place for the size I originally stated. You said 4.4L is wrong, but the auto industry would disagree.
