My crap typing speed

My typing speed is slowed by my poor spelling. If all I have to do is copy I am about 20 wpm faster than if I'm not. Not saying this is your problem but if you have to stop and think about how things are spelled it will slow you down.
 
the spelling thing is probably true for many people, but typing tests generally are just copying.
 
my typing lows to about 40wpm when i have to type and read at the same time. i never could get used to looking at type and typing at the same time. if im just typing whats in my head, i can get upwards of 70 wpm depending how passionate i am about the subject. i usually dont have spelling issues, but i am currently slowed by my laptop keyboard, sometimes the S, W or C keys dont want to work and i have to go back and hit them a few times to get a char out of it. kind of annoying, but i cant spare time to send it to dell and get it replaced.

id say if youre having trouble typing, go to download.com and get some of those typing programs for kids. mainly it is repetitive keystrokes, kind of like practice for your fingers.
 
I learned how to type when I first started playing starcraft. Figuring out the hotkeys and chatting on battle.net taught me where all the keys were.
