Hello all, so sad to say that my previous chip had just died, which was an amd 64 3000 venice. But I am now in a market for one and is not looking to speed too much on one. I really want an amd x2 3800 but I can't find one anywhere. So I am now looking at the amd 64 3700 san diago on new egg for about 76 dollars (Retail). Would this be a good chip to get? What do you guys think? If you guys know of a site that sells x2 3800, please let me know. Thanks

Check the FS/FT forums here. There's probably people looking to sell their 939s and upgrade. You could probably get a decent deal.

before you buy another one, does it come with warranty? it might save your money. I think AMD give 3 years warranty I could be wrong.

Only on new chips, if you overclock or use a heatsink that's out of AMD's official specs (or perhaps even one that's not on their "recommended" list) it voids the warranty. Not 100% on the heatsink thing, fairly certain, but I'm 100% positive that when you overclock it voids the warranty.

Yea, I did do alittle overclocking to mine so I figure I wouldn't be able to RMA... Even if I did try to RMA it, how do they know if I did overclock it? But I think I'll just got with the amd 3700 san diego. Hope its a good chip :)

if you buy a chip with out a HSF then you only get one month warranty, but if you buy one with the HSF 3 yr warranty. the 3700 is a hell of a chip, so is the 4000, and so is the Denmark 170 (if you can afford it) some good 3rd party cooling the Tuniq tower, and the Zalman 9500, the 9700 is about 1 or 2 degrees better than the 9500 so no big deal there also check out the 7000 and 7700 from zalman if you are going to overclock like mad!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you will do well with 3700 and the Tuniq Tower.
