First off yes, i needed to be that much of an asshole to people who dont know what they're talking about. No, xchat doesnt work, nor does mirc or chatzilla. I think they somehow blocked the entire protocol. I'm triyng to figure something out. One of my friends *said* he had a successful vpn tunnel to his house but im not quite sure

move off campus, it IS their rules.

OP must not be well versed in mIRC.

mIRC has always been used for pirating. Its been around way before the time of Pirate Bay, Torrent Spy, Kaaza, Bearshare, and all this other p2p crap that is out there nowdays. With all the P2P sites getting sued, I'm sure mIRC activity has picked back up. mIRC along with NNTP has always been known as the underground.

/dcc send FTW!

yeah some channels were great in the day. i spent a LOT of time on some them in the 90s sad part is the same people are on teh same channel talking about teh same ****** we talked about over 10 years ago.

I feel your pain. I am currently on a campus of a very tech savvy school. and even here the it help desk doesn't know anything. my favorite quote is "What's a workgroup". wonderful wonderful helpdesk

call up the local cable or telco to install cable/dsl internet in your room FTW
if not move the hell out

and guys, give the help desk a break, if they knew anything they wouldn't be in a dead end help desk job serving college students

Yeah, boo! How dare the university protect itself from worms/viruses when they know that students are some of the worse users out there in terms of security.

boo for them!

IRC is a hot bed for worms and illegal crap. So it's normally blocked.
