iirc faster memory access is all, and i would assume that's not a significant change?

975 will always be teh uber SLI $$ chipset it seems...

Exactly...faster memory performance, platform designed for the Core 2 Duo, and shouydl be less expensive since it is not expected to support SLI or crossfire though some boards may have 2x pci-e slots....

It is like the days of 865 mobos versus the canterwoods and the 875...875's were generally more bells and whistles, but by no means were the 865s slouches at ocing...they were more reasonably priced as well...

Cool, can wait for your benchies Duvie!

This is one reason I am holding off buying Conroe - there needs to be more mbs out in retail for it besides the 975Xs.

Nvidia will have a 570 budget and 590 elite SLI chipsets coming out for Conroe as well, won't they?

Then there will be ATI, whose first mobos have been outstanding overclockers...

Plenty of choices, I hope. I'm waiting for fall to see how it all works out, so I can get the best overclock for the least cash.

Not really important Duvie, but you can save a few bucks by getting the Ninja at Jab-tech. $31.95
