So I've been doing my research for a year now on my next new computer and at first I was going to go 939 then AM2 came out now it's Conroe. Some of the stuff I picked out is the same stuff I had from my old rig back when I was picking stuff out for a new 939 system like my case, PSU, etc. and some of it is new such as the motherboard and RAM. If you have any suggestion on what I can do to change and improve this rig let me know, it's not final, however I do have a Budget of $1400-$1450. After picking out parts on both newegg and zzf to minimize as much shipping charges as possible, my total comes to about $1366.97 (with keyboard, mouse, and fan) after shipping granted that the E6600 is $350 when it is available and I can get free shipping on that as well. Well, here it goes...

Case: Coolermaster Centurion 534 -- $64.99

Floppy: MITSUMI Black 1.44MB 3.5" digital card reader with Floppy Drive -- $17.99
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16827106015

Keyboard/Mouse: Logitech Cordless Desktop MX 3000 -- $64.99
https://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=211162

Fan: ARCTIC COOLING AF12025 120mm Cooling Fan -- $7.99
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.asp?item=N82E16835186005

So like I said, suggestions are welcome, and if anything I want to try and go down in price not up because I kinda of a strict budget on this system. If you feel I made a mistake on choosing something and you think you can improve my system feel free to put in your two as long as we're not talking about increasing the price another $100 dollars.

As a side note, I will be purchasing a LCD tv down the road and will be using an old CRT monitor until I can do so, so that is why I left my build without a monitor.

Thanks ahead of time for the input!

You could save some money on the CPU, do you need something that hammers a 4800X2 into the floor at stock settings? The 6400 will be a bit cheaper and still has potential for a nice OC.

If you're not overclocking at all then get a cheaper motherboard. Hell, think about a cheaper motherboard anyway.

Get a cheaper eVGA card and a Zalman vf900 for it, then overclock it yourself. The KO has a better than average cooler, but i don't think it's better than a vf900. Either way you'll be thinking about stepping up in a while (maybe).

I've been doing a little research on Conroe compatible motherboards and even Anandtechs review said that that motherboard is good for someone that isn't an extreme overclocker which is me, and it looks to be one of the cheaper Conroe motherboards that will be on the market when it comes out, that's the reason why I picked it. If you have any suggestions about a different mobo feel free to post them.

Hmm, well is there anything else that anyone spots that could be changed because once the E6600 is available I'm going to be buying most of this stuff and don't want to buy something that I'm going to regret buying later on?

The 965P boards should be great boards. If you are not OC'ing, I'd definitely get that Intel board linked above, or wait just a little while longer for the 946P motherboards to be available for ~$100.

The DFI requires an EPS compliant power supply, meaning you need an 8-pin motherboard connector over the traditional 4-pin connector.

I would recommend posting this on DFI-Street.com in the recommendations section of the forum.
