My computer won't work :(

HELP!
My desktop stopped working a while back, i tested the ram and processor. I decided the problem was the MOBO. I RMA's it and they said they couldn't find any problems.
The computer does the following:
When the powerbutton is pressed, the LED on my HSF lights(for about half a second), the fan moves about 1/8 of and inch, but that's it. What could be the problem!?!?

EDIT:
Bios reset and mobo on cardboard, same results.

Anything else to try before a new PS?

Have you tried putting the mobo on just a cardboard box? It could be shorting out in the case.
Have you tried another PS?
Have you tried resetting the bios?

I thought about the PS, but don't have an extra. will try the others now.
 
Just go buy a PSU from bustbuy or the like, test it out, if its not the PSU just return the one you just bought.

Heh. No bestbuy here. I guess there is staples... they have PSU's?
 
Make sure all of the mobo connections are correct.

Especially the case->mobo connections. I had a similar problem with my first build (about 7 years ago).

I had the power switch plug off by one pin on the mobo.

I second that. as If anything wrong with PSU, normally it won't even turn on or it runs too hot and you get BSOD when you play heavy gfx games. so if mobo is good and CPU is good, try running with just the CPU in there. do you even get mem and gfx error beeps?
 
let's see. I'm on a laptop now, and the pins were correct.
no beeps, not noise, no nothing. the fan doesn't even make a half of a rotation. i've tried without the ram, and no luck.

and your mobo is good?
try with different cpu?
here is something ineresting....could it be that your HSF's onboard connector are faulty? your pc won't even turn on if they do not detect you have a working HSF (on most mobo anyway)

Hmmm.... I did get a new HSF around the time this happened.
What can I do to resolve this? (don't have anything other than the new one)
 
I've had this exact same problem on an old Super-7 PC Chips board, with the characteristic momentary movement of the CPU fan. For the life of me, though, I can't remember how I solved it!

The point is, though, that your hardware is probably fine. Maybe if you have time you could disassemble everything, brush off the dust from everything, and put it all back together.

Gosh, I wish I could remember what the heck I did to fix that!
 
tried out with a friend's 235 watt power supply. TA DA... it works. Now just have to find a decent one that will last for another year and a half.
