In the real world you do not go around correcting a superior in public.
A professional will accept constructive advice/information if delivered properly.
Any teacher worth their salt will be happy to correct erroneous information provided in an earlier class.

Challenging the teacher in front of the class is
1) showing inmaturity - this is standard amoung many HS and lower level college students
2) setting you up to be embarressed in front of others when you slip up.
3) increasing your chances of getting a lower grade than you feel you may deserve (you will not get benifit of doubt on some answers.

As I suggested, talk to the instructor in an informal setting about you rconcerns on the way the class is being taught and the options to bypass the class.

<< True. also in the real world you get paid for putting in time. Part of the reason I hate school and part of the reason why he can have fun correcting the teacher (even if it hurts his grades a bit;))

<< Way too many "computer" teachers are clueless. :( >>

But on the same note, way too many computer "students" think they know more than they really do.

Well this isnt the real world. This is high school. What if one of the people in her classes decides to work in a computer related job. They will go on using the wrong material she tought. I don't get why you guys make it seem like I am getting paid. What can she do, fire me? Im simply correcting her so she teaches the other people the right material. For FInals, they might get the answer right on the test but in real life it might be totally off from what she said.

<< Someone mentioned that you can test out of the class. I recommend you do that. When I took the basic computer classes I couldn?t stand it. They were way to easy so I tested out. Which was great I got to get the credit and didn?t have to go or do the silly homework? >>

I don't think that is an option. But I will ask...I hope I can get of that class early while earning full credit. That would be a nice idea :)

Well considering that I doubt you or very many will get a computer job out of high school. Not to mention with a attitude that you have its not likely at all.

Both way the point everyone is making is there are times and places to act like that. In the classroom is NOT one of them. But I hate to tell you that you are in the ?real world? what you do now has to do with how you do in college/work and life. Ahh to be in HS again. Sigh

I don't have an attitude. I don't come in her class and act all b!tchy. I simply point out mistakes. If thats wrong, oh well. I won't sit their like an idiot and ignore the mistakes she makes about computers. If I dont point them out, then I will be the one who will get a bad grade on the tests.

Oh ya do, too. You're in high school, aren't ya?

Talk with the teacher after class when it's not a blatant confrontation. Come to her with facts so that it's not a personal attack.

<< No, she should have worded it diffrently then. IT should be A CD-ROM Can be stored information into. Its like a floppy disk. It doesnt do the writing. THe floppy drive stores in information INTO the floppy. >>

Looks like you need to drop the computer classes and take some basic English classes.

my computer class last year was like that, but Mac(my teacher) is a nice guy. The info he was using was old and outdated(saying pentiums were the fastest chips on the market) so i showed him a few sites where he could look up newer info. I didn't know much about networking, so we did a bit of an exchange, i taught him about newer computers, he taught me about networking

You're in highschool, right? What your classmates do, or do not, pick up from this class isn't what will keep them from landing a "computer-related job" right out of high school.

Well, today in one of my computer classes, I found out that 255 was the highest binary number.

We were talking about IP addresses and how the numbers can range from 0 through 255. Well, he said the reason that 255 is the highest is because that is the highest possible binary number. He should have said that 255 is the equivalent to the highest 1 byte binary number. But, since he doesn't know the difference between a bit and a byte, that might be hard for him to understand.

This class could teach you a valuable lesson about life in the "real world," if nothing about computers.

It can also teach you a valuable lesson about education--the right answer is what the teacher SAYS is the right answer. School isn't about learning, it's about playing the game. The faster you learn that, the better off you are. Took me until college to disillusion myself. Could have saved myself a lot of grief in HS.

bah, FU, try telling that to my mother who teaches first grade, she'd whip your ass in math, english, AND history. And then she'd get her belt out and spank you. ;)

Man welcome to my world, but rather then me correcting my teacher every five minutes, she just decided to let me teach the class. I've tought Internet, Word Processing, etc.

One thing about this teacher that fukin pissed me off, I had her for keyboarding when I was a junior, and each term she requires you to up your words per minutes by like 5, well she gave me an A- because I couldn't improve on 100 Words per minute...I kid you not. There were dumbasses going from 20 to 25 WPM getting A's, but I got an A- cause I couldn't get higher then 100.
