My "computer room" is 100% heated by AMD and NVIDIA...

Seriously. The ducting for the furnace doesn't quite heat this room well if at all. During the cold season (ie: now - it's 3 degrees F out right now) this room is quite chilly -- assuming I don't have the computers on. If I turn the machines on and leave them all day with the door closed, well, right now it's a comfortable 77 degrees in here. All thanks to a 1.4GHz TBird and a 1.2GHz Duron. :)

I guess you can say you're efficient! :)

AMD, is there anything they can't do?

I have a 1.4 GHz ThunderBird and an ELSA Gladiac GeForce 2 GTS heating my computer room. The woodstove keeps the main room warm better than the furnace, and the temperature sensor is out there, with no thermostat in this room. Last I checked it was about ten below zero outside, having warmed up from fourty-four below.

Woodstove...does that use electricity?

Ha I gave my parents my old PC with a 1.4 T-Bird to heat their computer room LOL. Its got a Geforce 256 in it as well that is kinda warm. The 19" Monitor is a little stove too. Warms is up nicely. It is usually cold as crap in there, NO heat at ALL, and not the insulation is rather poor.

Nope. Free standing metal box in which one burns wood for heat, referred to as a woodstove rather than a fireplace because it has a flat top and you can cook stuff on top of it. Not recessed into the wall either, so it does a much better job of heating an area. With a fireplace, most of the heat is lost up the chimney.

A woodstove doesn't use electricity. A wood furnance will use electricity for forced hot air and I think a fan on the flame. The electricity isn't need which is good when the power dies.

When I was young we had a wood stove we boiled water on it and used it as a humidifier. Heated pretty well too.

No, it has doors on the front, unlike a fireplace, and it does have a chimney, it is just that more heat is radiated through the sides and top (as well as the sides of the chimney) than escapes up the chimney.

I do not understand the question. If such cards have recently appeared in the HD forum it would be news to me, as the manufacturer is now defunct. I purchased this card back when they were still fairly new on the market.

We do that during the winter. We use an old pan that was no longer used for cooking, and just leave it on top 24/7.

Oh, never mind then. A long time ago on hot deals there was an amazing deal on that exact card and everyone on HD bought it.

That may have been before my time here. I signed up after Maetryx helped me build this machine, and that card was purchased through a local computer store at that time.

Damn Intel. No wonder my room's always cold now.

I do have a bunch of dead AXP chips. Wonder if I could bolt some giant HSFs on them and make a GhettoHeater? :D

I don't know about you guys, but the video card and cpu don't really spit out much heat. My PSU is usually the culprit...

I highly doubt it. I think there is almost no way a normal PSU can give out 70w~90w of heat and being efficient to deliver all the juices.
