i have an asus a7v133 w/sound, duron 1100 mhz, 3x256=768 mb infineon ram, radeon 8500, maxtor 30gb, kenwood 62x, plextor 24x. i'm running win2k and it keeps locking up. what could it be?

Try running with just 1 stick o' RAM at a time. Are you plugged into the mobo's RAID ports? Is this a new system you're trying to get running or is this an old system that suddenly developed this problem?

no cooling problem...

tried taking out a stick of ram, and VOILA! it stopped crashing. but soon after installing sound drivers, it started locking up again 🙁

are you using the intergrated sound? If you are, then it is a PITA to install. If you can, upgrade to a better card. What bios version do you have? I have found the 1009 to be the best for me. Like what other ppl have said, get the most up-to-date via 4-in-1's and upgrade to SP3.
