my computer keeps crashing!!

hi
i'm currently using an Antec slk1650b case. the mobo is a MSI RS480M2-IL. cpu is a athlon64 3000+ winnie. hsf is ZALMAN CNPS7000B-ALCU 120mm. ram 2x512mb pc3200. hitachi 80gb. i tried leaving my computer on overnight, but it crash in the middle of the night and restart. after it restart, windows show a message saying a major error has occured and was restarted. something like that forgot what was the exact message. i tried couple times and it keeps staying like that. i'm never at the comp when that happen. the cpu is at 39degree C. hd is at 44degree C. case temperature is around 40degree C. whats wrong with it? is it not enough power from power supply or i just need to reinstall windows or i need new hard drive? my ram is very stable since i ran memtest for 24 hours straight on a different computer. my power supply is 350watts. any help appreciated. thanks in advance.
 
Are you OCing?

Edit: What kind of video card do you have? Did you recently install some new hardware? There are lots of things that could cause system instability other that just CPU, PSU, and MB.
 
nope. no overclocking. i didn't install anything new since this mobo have onboard sound and video. i did flash the mobo bios to a newer one. it says bios flashing was successful or something like that. so i didn't think it'll be the flashing.

how do i move this thread? i'm kinda new here.
 
I'm leaning toward HD problems. Do you have your HD power cable daisychained with a case fan or other device? Do you have another drive you can test in your computer?

hmm. the power cable i'm using is connected to both my dvd burner and HD. but i've been doing this for a week already. it started crashing after new bios though. does flashing to new bios causes this though? i don't have another HD right now.

If the crashes started with the bios flash then I think you should start your troubleshooting there. Try flashing back to an earlier bios and see if the crashes stop. If they do you should e-mail the manufacturer of your MB and let them know about the new bios' instability problems.
 
i flashed it back to old bios and it didn't crash last night. i think i'm going to email them. what do you think they'll do? replace new mobo?

There is probably nothing wrong with your motherboard. It is more likely there is just a bug in the new bios they released.

This is true. Don't worry though, you're probably not sacrificing any performance benefits by running an older bios.
