If the wiring in the house is iffy then it's most likely affecting the whole house.

UPS would be the best best.....in addition to the battery backup they also serve to clean the power a bit.....just needs to get a good one like APC........

From my past experienes with rebooting, it's been slight instabilities. not power supply related.

It's been heat before, for sure will randomley restart your machine.. or system instabilities for whatever reason... cheap RAM will definitely cause problems too. try looking around in your BIOS, try changing your CAS latency from 2 to 3 (if it's at 2) and make sure your CPU fan is active and keeping that baby cool..

just some quick things to check.. the problem could also be software related, those are more fun to fix.. but i'd try those other things first.. :)

You've gotten some good advice here, but one thing I'd like you to do before you embark on any repairs: tap the area around your reset button on the case with the computer on.

Depends on how powerful of one you buy.....I picked up an APC Back-UPS 650 at Sam's Club for $149 last year....

Here is a link to APC's home page give it a look and you should be able to find a model to suit your needs.

I would definitely check the memory seating since you mentioned you removed it but I suspect that Shiner is on the right track. When I first started out working in PC support for a smallish company I had a user that had that same problem. It turned out that a guy in the next office had plugged in a space heater and everytime it kicked on the user who's PC was spontaneously rebooting would reboot. There was just enough load on the circuit that the heater kicking on would cause that.

maybe nik can walk you through this. He's fairly knowledgable in ATTBI, maybe he's familiar with PSUs and MBs.

the timer is acutally slightly skewed.. in reality, i should have started a day more than i did.. becuase as it is right now, it will say zero more days tomorrow, which is technically correct, just doesnt right. sometime after midnight tomorrow night is when it acutally goes off.

so edit your "countdown timer" and add 1.75 more days of intentionally don't change it.
