Ok setup: everything is good. I try to install some extra word templates so that I can write a decent resignation letter.
I try to add-on some features to word. The Office (2000) CD doesn't work, says it's missing some file that I can't find.
Fine I then put it Windows XP by accident and it starts to install the OS...Fine whatever, I'm on the verge of formatting my computer already
Then I say F-this, I am formatting and installing 2000 again.
I format...I go through bootup, the bios detects my two harddrives. I boot from the CD drive and start installing windows. It looks like it goes through fine.
I even take the extra step of formatting it again during the installation phase. Then Windows is finished installing and it reboots, when it reboots, it doesn't see my harddrives (no drives detected), and that is when the trouble begins...if I quit the installation prematurely, and just boot again, it won't detect my hard drives anymore. But if I just cleanly formatted my drives the bios will detect my hard drives. What is up? what's broken. Seriously this is one of those cases where a small problem just snowballed into something unfixable. Please help, why does the bios not detect my hard drives after the first installation phase?
P.S. 1.3Ghz Athalon, no bootleg software, running an Abit KT-7 board.
