My computer is dead :(

I recently moved from NY to CA and shipped my PC in the mail via UPS.

My graphics card somehow, from shock, popped out of the AGP slot and was wandering around loose in the case during shipping. One of the inductors became a bit tilted on the vid card but i just bent it back. When i boot up the PC, the ram check is done insantly, but when it tries to find IDE drives it tries for like 40 seconds then finally finds 3 out of the 4 drives I have plugged-in.

The IDE cables seem to be completely seated properly. At this point, after 3/4 are detected, if i wait like 5 mins, it eventually goes into windows. :\ Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

(by the way I am waiting for insurance money to process if I can't get this working.)

Have you tried it without the other drives? Hard Drives do NOT like any fast movements, if the read/write head hits the platter that can cause damage.

Before i mess around with that, wouldn't there have to be motherboard damage because the IDEs are being detected so slowly?

No, problems with the drives themselves does that.

could be either/or, or both. Worse, there could be a problem with the video card as well.

Right. Going to test things in a little bit but i can see whether or not the vid card was damaged by doing a 3d mark test. Going to try to disable hdds in BIOS and go straight into a gentoo livecd; check performance. I'll post my results. Thanks for the tips so far.

Aha! Problem fixed! Who would have thought that a power supply connector a tad loose could have slowed things so severely? Thanks again guys
