my computer hates my router:(

ive got 2 computers on lan and ever since i got a new hard drive in one of them (total reformat) it wount connnect through the router anymore, i have win xp pro, but when i connect it directly through the dsl modem it works but not through the router, and i dont think the router is broken cuase the other computer can connect through it no problem its just the computer with the new hard drive that wont connect. i have a smc barricade router, err i think the numbers is wrong for the ip adress though cause it shows up as 192. something, ive tried setting up a new network, reformatting, reseating rounter.

but its weird when i connect it in it says its connected but it cant connect online, and when i deplug it the notice thing says a cable has been unplugged.

can anyone help please! this issue has got me really annoyed for a while! thanks for any help!

i was told that its suppose to be something like 168. for the starting code, thats the specification for the smc barricade routers, 192. is not for this router, and that 192. is from win xp pro auto detecting it. so its really weird.

It should be 192.168.something.something that you're getting from the router. Check the other computer that works fine w/ the router and I'm sure that's what you'll see as its IP address.

The Network on your new Hard Drive is not configured correctly and your computer has no communication with the Router.

First check the System Properties and make sure that your NIC is configured correctly and there is No Hardware Conflicts.

Then, log to this page it has a lot of links to instructions to Windows Network Settings, and Sharing.

thanks to everyone that replyed, i finally called verizon and got transfered to smc, they gave me a ip adress and other numbers and it worked, hehe thanks again!
