i've noticed some programs in task manager that i'm not familiar with. are there any websites that allow me to put in the name of the *.exe file, and will tell me what purpose/program the executable is for?

try doing a search in the Windows Search to see where it comes from....grab Spybot Search and Destroy to see if it's spyware/adware.

i've had zonealarm, i'm behind a physical firewall, and i've had norton 2003 for a while. they are all fully updated and i scan twice a month. i really don't think it's that. anything else?

They won't protect against SpyWare. You are best downloading SpyBot and AdAware and scanning with them both to try and find any spyware on your system.
