I downloaded grokster to get some music and left my machind on during the night as usual and when i woke up i had 154 pop-ups!

i ran ad-aware and that did not remove all of it so hubby ran something else and i think it is cleaned up now hopefully.

any non-ad music sites around?

I use Kazaalite. Immediately after installing I run adaware because it comes with GatorZ.

Kazaalite can also download from people on Grokester and many others

Well I just checked the site and it says it now comes with no ads whats-so-ever. But I would still run adaware just to make sure. Here is the link. They have lots of pop-up's on the first page. But it explains why.

I would use winmx for music and emule for everything else. Bit torrent is great for tv series

I believe Kazaa *lite* is Gator free. I use it and I've never had any problems with ads/spyware.

I'll have to check out this "Bit torrent" Freewolf mentioned. Thanks!

While some people in other forums don't seem to like it, I prefer WinMX since it has never had ads or spyware.

I was really disappointed in Audiogalaxy when they went "spyware"
Kazaa has my daughter's PC always tied up, but she won't let me remove it.
I miss Napster.

KaZaA Lite is spyware free :) I'm using it, and ran AdAware last night, and nothing there :)

I like Kazaa network, because I can find episodes of Scrubs and 24 easily, which are my 2 favourite TV programs :) And I also use it for most of the music I get.

For most other stuff, I use either IRC or eDonkey network, using the Overnet application :)

I've had better luck with emule than overnet myself and I usually have 24 the same day it comes on tv here using bit torrent to get it

Kazaa 2.1 is absolutely crap now too. Kazaa 2 had optional spyware for the most of it except one item. Now it demands installing every single item which I didn't like, so I didn't install.

KaZaA Lite is your friend. All the connectivity of KaZaA without the computer eating capabilities of it's bigger, and uglier brother.

Yep, but just close the popup window that tells you there's a new version out, that IS Kazaa, not lite.

What paf077 said.

That popup catches a lot of kids and even grown ups who just click OK to every notice of an upgrade without bothering to read and check things out.
