My computer died =(

Last night, I was running my Duron 800 on an Abit KT7 (not overclocked) and all of the sudden it went into permanent sleep mode. I was playing CS at the time. I cannot diagnose the problem, but I have reason to believe the motherboard is shot. Each time I boot up the computer, there is NO beep. None whatsoever. I removed all the PCI/AGP cards and booted up. No beep. I tried reseating the memory. No beep. At last I took off the chip and booted. No beep. Does this mean the motherboard is dead? Or, if this is all just my imagination, how can I fix this if my computer doesn't even boot up?

probably the mobo, happened to my soyo, no beep no matter what and no display, got it RMAed and everythings fine now! 🙂

return manufactor authorization its where you contact abit and tell them its broken blah blah, and they send you a new one and you send them the old one or some form of that, microsoft doesnt require you to send it back 🙂

Same thing happened to me with an Abit BH6 a while back. I had to send it back for a new one. Check your power supply before drawing any conclusions though.

if nothing at all happens when you boot up, have you checked that a fuse isn't blown before blaming anything else!
did you have a surge protector on the power line?

Alright, I powered on my system again. All the fans still spin, even the one in the power supply. I do not hear any funny noises that weren't present before, but it will will not boot up.

Yank the RAM and see if you get the "no RAM" beep (if you haven't already). Probably RMA time though. Good luck.
