<< You know how much of AMD's market consists of overclockers? Maybe 1% or so? It's a pretty insignificant market for them to invesnt extensive research in. >>

100% bullshit. Try 75+%. Practically everybody that uses these forums are OCers. Think about it for a sec, how the hell can it ONLY be 1% if 95% of the people here are OCers, and 60% use AMD. That 60% is probably 80% of AMD's total revenue.

Think before you type.
>>

You're a bigger retard than I thought. Anantech forums consist of a mere MINORITY of all the computer users in the world. There are much more AMD users outside. The numbers may not be 1% but it's definitely 75% that overclocks. I've got tons of friends that do not overclock their AMD and they're happy with it.
>>

You and I would agree that AMD has a bigger presence in the enthusiasts market than retail, therefore I allotted 20% of AMD systems sold for Joe Six pack buying AMD at Compusa. Joe Six pack doesn't know how to OC so that would be 100%-20% = 80%. Out of the enthusiasts, as you said, some do not overclock so that would be probably 5%, 80%-5%=75%. I think my estimations are correct.

Before you insult people, look at the matter logically.
>>

so every enthusiast is an AT member?

Hi,
I was just holding a sledgehammer over my open case and dropped it when I went to itch my nose. Where can I apply for a refund? I really think AMD is at fault, since they didn't have protection for this sort of occurence.

A math whiz, too. Astounding.

What's wrong with math? Last time I checked: nothing.

<< My dad's Athlon XP 1800+ setup w/ EP-8KHA+ caught fire when my foot accidentally knocked the power button when I was installing a water cooler on the CPU to overclock it. Thankfully, I had a pitcher of water for the water cooler by my side. So I quickly poured the water onto the motherboard and CPU. They are both ruined and I am trying to get a refund.

Now I need a replacement computer, all of the accessories and peripherals are still in good shape, it is just the motherboard and CPU that are ruined. I am never going to use an AMD setup again because of its high flammability. This is really not funny after what has happened to me. I decided to turn to Intel, but I require some help in selecting a motherboard for the Northwood.

Which is the best chipset for a DDR solution? I am leaning towards the 845-D because of its high compatibility and stability. I prefer ATA133 as well as integrated RAID for my extra HDD. I also want USB 2.0 integrated for an upgrade path. I have compiled a list of possible motherboard manufacturers: MSI, ASUS, SOYO, ABIT, EPOX, and GIGABYTE. I want the one that offers the least amount of problems. Which is the best overclocker? It is surprising that I have not learned that overclocking can do harm to your computer. 🙂

Thanks for your opinions.

LOL,Stop please, I'm gonna choke to death laughing here !!!!!!!

hahahahahahHAHA !!!

Edit because I'm still laughing at some of the responses, ehehehehehehehe 😀😀 😀

I suppose you've also learned the lesson to keep your computer unplugged while messing with the cpu cooler.

<< look at his system rigs... >>

What the hell is the matter with you people?! Can't we all appreciate a genuine IBM PS/2-50 or an Intel 80386 @ 8Mhz?!

<< that the people here using AMD consist of 80% of their total revenue >>

Umm you are stilla clueless fool
the people here mean sh!t when it comes to the millions of CPU AMD sells per month. No way in hell we amount to more then 5% of amd revenue. A vast majority of it comes from normal users. You really should just stop replying. You are in no mental shape to argue with made up facts.

Since when was 8.9Megabits/second bad?

Uh... Segate never made fireballs... You must mean Quantum.

also what's so funny about your system rigs is that your hardware is whacked.

Seagate doesnt make the fireball. Quantum did. And how in the hell do you have a upload that is higher then your download?

8.9 Mbps up/ 300 kbps down

Dude you are a great source of laughter. You would have better luck if you did run into a wall.

head my brother advice.

maybe you should just stick to air cooling....

but a p4 wont catch fire

No, they won't. In the first place, I don't even know why did the AMD caused any fire.

Since when can't people estimate? Let us see: Anandtech has over 1,000,000 users.

please stop posting. you are making an even bigger ass out of yourself. AT has a bit over 80,000 members.

I still want to know how he came up with his numbers on AMD. Don't you even know how many intel and AMD sell? millions a month. and there is only 80k users here with about half or so using AMD. You would know that if you bothered to look at my system rig stats. But I forgot, youa re clueless.

cause a AMD runs at over 300C without a heatsink that would be my guess

Umm... Has it ever occured to you that I may, just may, be running a server but never updated my rigs???

Ok, let's assume that all 80,000 people on Anandtech use AMD processors. Let's assume they all go out and spend $400 on a new AMD processor. That's $32,000,000 right there. Now let's assume that ALL of that goes to AMD, which it won't. In 6 months, let's upgrade agian to their newest processor. Another $32 mil for AMD in a year. $64 million a year in revenues. They'd be bought up by Intel before they could even go out of business.

So let's see. DocSmart has posted that he has a Seagate Fireball. Someone posts back, "since when did Seagate make a Fireball?"
DocSmart posts back: Seagate doesn't make fireballs.

Heed own advice about thinking before posting, DocSmart, alright? 😀

And I think I sense a lock approaching, unless the mods are laughing at this thread as hard as the rest of us are. 😉😀

mods please, please change his title to something funny. 😀

AT has just a bit over 80k registered users. though may recieve millions of hits a day, but no way they are all amd users. You sir are clueles. Here is a dollar to buy yourself an IQ point. Having a 0 IQ is pretty bad.
