People in this thread who work in a call center, you have to get out.
I did it once back in 2008 for a little while and it was the worst few months of my life.
I quit one day because I decided to call in sick, and again, and again. It lead to be just never going back. I never put the job on my resume and now I have a job that I like and I have no issues going to work in the morning, and unless I'm actually sick, I don't call in sick.

The best thing I ever did was quit that job, and also not being up front about and just stopping going was the other best thing I did. It was quite liberating and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Eff that shit-hole!!!

I would flip burgers at McDonalds or work at WalMart before going back to a call center.

That's the really crappy part.

95% of the time I love my job. I work with a bunch of crazy people that make every day fun, my bosses included. Its just that every once in a while they do stupid shit like this. It used to be mandatory for everyone (bosses included) to spend an hour a week on the phones. That way they stayed grounded. That rule fell off and now some days I swear the higher ups think that Outlook is a real world. They never take their noses out of it to see what's really going on.

I'm sure it will all be forgotten about soon (after I get my talking to where they justify their actions).

I would have described each incident in minute detail including including the time I ate the item, the feelings in my bowels, the fear of having to leave my desk, then how it came out including paper usage. 6 incidents could easily go a 1000 words.

Hey, he asked for it.

Take a dump in your garbage can while you're on a call and switch it out with his after the call. Then say, "Don't worry, I didn't take a break."

I was getting to that point when i was at a call center, stay or go to McDonald's until i find another full time job. But then I got an entry level accounting job and have been happy ever since.

Dealing with that now. Working under a prick supervisor, who's old and bitter. Fucker essentially called me incompetent, slow, and a slacker last Friday. Now I'm almost done the entire project. If I weren't doing shit, it wouldn't have been possible to do so much in 2 days.

Going to ask for a Leave of Absence tomorrow. Tired of this shit, need some time to just think and do something else.

So you didn't quit on Tuesday like you said you were going to do?

We've been stupid busy lately. 1/2 hour lunches, mandatory OT, busier than I've ever seen it. I've been working 10 hours of overtime a week to help out and make some extra cash.

I work in a call center, so I know I'm always under the microscope. I'm available to take calls 96% of the time I am punch in with an average of 6 seconds of wrap up between calls. That's pretty damn Johnny on the Spot if you ask me.

Today I get an email from my boss. It basically read, "You took 6 emergency breaks last week. Can you please explain?"

Fuck you! I had to pee. I worked 6 days with most of those days being 11.5 hour days. Damn right I had to pee. I was slamming coffee and energy drinks like a fiend. I feel kind of bad because I got shitty with my boss but screw him. If his boss was counting beans like that, he should have told them to blow him.

Sounds like they are preparing for performance reviews. This way they can justify not giving you a raise.

It's a call center...
Call centers are the epicenter of soul sucking, mind numbing, Hitler youth training grounds.
They are all the same staffed by minor demons in training who delight in tormenting the pitiable souls who work there.

I recommend emailing him back and saying if he was a team player, he'd of covered you on those breaks.

lol you win this thread.

we have between 1500 and 2000 people answering the phones at any given time.

holy crap! yea i can see why they are so anal about the numbers.

we have a small call center of about 40 people, they do stats but not to the point where you get called on the carpet for taking 6 "emergency" piss breaks in a week.

I worked in a call center about 12 years ago and somewhat did the same thing. After almost 2 years, I just got sick of it and started calling in. One day I decided not to even bother calling because I didn't care if they knew I wasn't coming in. That led to me doing it again the next day and the next. They finally called me after 3 days to see where I was at, I told them I didn't feel like coming in anymore.

Nope. Chilled a bit, chilled some more, then decided that I should just keep the FT, phone it in, while actually looking for a job, and not just FMLing 3/4 of the time. Job sucks, I want to cut myself right now, but $$$$$$$$.

Sorry🙁. I am disappoint.

they would never fire me over something like this. They just like to have something to complain about. This is also the one thing that really pisses me off when they complain about it.

Did I mention that if I am on a call past my break start time, it dings my numbers?

wtf, are you supposed to drop the call?

Wow, really? Why aren't people snatching them up? Too lazy to do the training?

I don't know about the 72,000 number, but I'd guess people's reluctance to take truck driving jobs stems from not wanting to be away from home and family for long stretches of time.

That's why more young men who don't have those issues should seriously consider it as a viable option. You can make enough money to own a home and save to go to college if that is a long term goal. The job isn't too dificult and you get to see our great nation firsthand.

Obviously, I would never expect it to be the first option for a college grad but if you finished with a degree in philosophy it might be worth looking into.

The corporate assclowns do this every couple of years. I put up with a lot of BS at work and this is the one thing they do that I rebel against.

They need a different hobby.
Those corporate assclowns are just upset they haven't gotten another tax break lately. You know what you need to do.

Seems to be a popular method of exit ... that is exactly how I quit my call center job, too :awe:

Because having a young body waste away at the back of a wheel 13+ hours a day is a great use of their youth.

Pretty much this ... I think my uncle slaved away for a few decades as a truck driver. Pretty sure it was so he didn't have to see his obese and obnoxious wife.

Shitty business owners get tunnel vision when things get good and their greed takes over rational thought.
