Could it be the processor?

Have you double checked that you've got everything installed correctly? No lose wires, etc?

Yes I made sure that the wires were all connected and working. Hmm I dunno I suppose it could be the processor... but then why wouldnt my Celeron work eventhough I got it replaced? I really don't know what to do next. I mean I have tried everything that everyone has told me to do.... :(

You're sure that the core isn't cracked? Are you sure the PS works? Does it turn on? You can test the PS by shorting pins 14 and 15 I think. You might want to search the net and make sure the pins I'm talking about are correct.

Anyways, if you find that the power supply works, then need to make sure the CPU works. Try testing the CPU in another board. My guess is that there is a short somewhere that is preventing the mobo from powering up. Also, if this is installed within your case, are you sure you have the power jumper on the correct pins? I fixed this guys computer once and turns out he had put on the jumper wrong. Took 2 minutes.

Try starting the comp with monthing else but the RAM CPU and Vid card. That's all you need to test out this system anyways, so for now don't have any other thing plugged in the PCI slots

Hope this helps. I'll try to think of some more stuff to help you out.

The core could be cracked like I said I don't even know anymore. I mean the core looks fine it didnt have any scratches or anything on it. Umm the power supply works because it powers up all the fans connected to the mobo and to the ps itself power up.

I tried booting up with just ram, video card, and processor but nothing happened. Then I tried a new video card and still nothing. Then new ram and still nothing. I tried everything from my comp in the comp that I am in right now and it all works. I cant try the processor because its a tbird and I am on a duron and the slots for the 2 procssors are diffrent.

There is no way for me to test a new processor either I don't know of anyone around here who would have one...

So you didn't see any chips or flakes on the CPU or the thermal compound/TIM?

This is bizarre. Are you sure the jumpers are set correctly? Set everything to auto selecet on mobo and set everything to default.

If I'm not mistaken, Duron and Athlon sockets are exactly the same. You can use either. But in this case, I would go against it. You wouldn't want to mess up another CPU.

Well I guess nothing's really shorting on the mobo since your PS powers up. all I can really think of is bad CPU. What HSF are you using? You used thermal paste or something? IF yo utake off the heat sink, just make sure you don't see any small fragments or anything.

I am using an Alpha heatsink (not sure what model) I just bought this entire setup from a kid, well not entire just the mobo and cpu. Umm the duron and tbird slot doesnt look the same to me at all... the tbird that I have is like a slot1 but the duron that I have is a Socket something or another so I cant swap out the processor.

If I take the hsf off nothing is chipped and nothing is flaking off. I put the whole hsf setup on the chip when I got it this morning he took everything apart before he shipped it.
